The reason no one has been stanning for Burna Boy’s African Giant album is that everyone already knows it’s the best album of the year, right?

Intense, effortless, hooks for days.

Also, “Anybody” and “Killin Dem” are two of the year’s best tracks.

Come poll time, ILM collectively forgot Weird Al's most recent album and its singles, somehow, though we all had fun with them.

__I love the album but Everything I Wanted is my favourite song she's done. It really hit me hard in the last few weeks._

Tapan - Ghana - tribal acid from the deepest mystical space of 2019, atmosphere so thick i wanna bite into it

Identified Patient - Geen Syndroom - catchy industrial sludge that inspires a sleazy dancefloor

Kontravoid - Too Deep - fun gothy EBM with romantic new wave heart

and an album:

RAP - Export - deserves its mixtape designation not just because the tracks are mixed, but the way its strong emotional core makes what could otherwise be showy or forced shifts in genre totally natural and necessary. its rhythmic/textural/melodic sensibility collapses dub, industrial, post-punk, techno, folk, synth-pop into something really affecting that avoids pastiche

i didn't actually listen to 25 new albums this year but am catching up on stuff and will submit something at the wire

Going through the playlist, I realised that I hadn't paid much attention to the Haim singles this year. They're all pretty strong but yeah, Now I'm In It is by far the best.

I voted yesterday and am now listening to the Kim Gordon album and realizing I should have put it much higher on my ballot. So people should listen to this and then vote for it. "Hungry Baby" is so good, I should have nominated it in tracks.
