Best song on Kate Bush's The Dreaming

it's funny cuz it's not obviously like an emotional song, but one day i was listening to it and i really got the emotional intensity of it - the intensity of what it is to be by yourself in your house.

thing i like abt "get out of my house" = the incredibly startling scream she lets out right before the male voice (ghost?) comes in

i tend to associate this album w/ a time when i was feeling anxious (in a bad way) about lots of things so i still get this sort of knot in my stomach whenever i hear that track in particular

not really sure how i could ever say that "get out of my house" isn't an obviously emotional song...

Yeah, I never really stopped to think what that song might be about, but I guess like many songs, it could be a lot of things. I just love the breathless back-and-forth, barely controlled intensity of the way she sings on that, and it makes it fun to sing along. So dramatic.

suspended in gaffa is easily in my top 3 songs all-thyme, right there with hunger strike and total eclipse of the heart

Yeah, my buddy has decided he's totally in love with Kate on the basis of his recent discovery of Hounds of Love, but until he learns to appreciate this album he's not really a Kate fan at all in my book.

Pull Out The Pin, Leave It Open, Sat In Your Lap and There Goes A Tenner are my favorites. This or Aerial must be her best album.

It's hard to say what I would have voted for, this is an incredibly strong album. Is it my favourite Kate LP, though? Nah, that would be Never For Ever.

It's tough but right now Leave it Open seems right.

Pull Out the Pin. Very easy choice. The album is a stunner, and it features probably the best use of the Farlight CMI ever

I don't know if about best, but when it comes to albums where the Fairlight CMI played a huge role, then The Dreaming and Hounds of Love are definitely in there among the best examples.

Marvelous album. Can't believe I've never commented on this thread, I hope I voted in the poll. (Tho no idea how I did if I did, probably GOOMH but possibly the title track.) To me it sits separate even from her other work, it has a musical and psychological density that isn't like any other album.

I still like it a shade less than Hounds of Love. Maybe the only album in my collection about which I can apply admire-more-than-like.

But I can blast "Houdini" and especially "Get Out of My House" anytime.
