Yeah what exactly is the status of the Six Finger Satellite reissues? Did I miss them or is this project still bubbling away in the DFA lab? I mean I have the originals... but the kids don't.

Found it! It is called "Simple Things (Work It Out) (Serge Santiago Remix)" by Shit Robot and it will be released on July 14th. Awesome!

ugh so is there any reason that dfa is re-releasing this woolfy album from two years ago with 2 fewer original tracks (replaced by remixes)? are these remixes worth it, did they re-record things or what?

Really, really feeling the Black Meteoric Star. Way more than expected (although I'm not sure why, I really liked the D and G album). Especially love "Death Tunnel", "Dominatron", "Dreamcatcher", and "Anthem".

new Holy Ghost! single "I Will Come Back" is great, possibly better than "Hold On"

Black Meteoric Star album is FANTASTIC. It's like the missing link between Orbital and krautrock, just so WARM and fuzzy and oh the textures, the sonic textures. It's full of wub and I love it.

is his stuff with Delia Gonzales like this? Coz in that case, I need to get some of that.

That's Tangerine Dreamy minimalist synthy stuff, different but still very good.

"yeah, we got a very small run of white labels today and we're going to give a handful to one of our favorite record stores in NYC to give away. We're also doing a limited run of full artwork 12"s beautifully designed by DFA art wiz Michael Vadino, the ENTIRE run of which will be given away too (just have to figure out how). That's a couple weeks away though.

And we got killer remixes from DJ Mehdi and Classixx - did I mention that? "

the holy ghost! track isn't nu-disco it's straight up synth-pop which is a fine thing but the track, especially the vocal, kind of sucks. i agree with jaxon.

oh hey didn't notice this. the UK 12" is on Solar Disco (and has Space Fortress plus two remixes).

reason i ask is that i can't seem to buy it digitally in AUS from anywhere, not even my usual holdouts like boomkat, which is extremely disappointing

hmm... it looks like it's available as a combo (all the tracks on the dfa release plus the remixes) at www.junodownload.com, but I dunno if that applies in Australia as well.

old from the dfa: is the DFA remix of the rock by delakota by *the* DFA? can't find much about it online so not sure when the remix was released. it's not very good, but i could upload it someplace if anyone fancies a listen

There's a 'No Hand Shakes' remix on the 12" by Tim Goldsworthy of DFA, it might be that? Speeded-up vocals? I just found that Stylus piece too whilst googling..

ahh, that makes sense - i found the mp3 on soulseek so i guess someone must have renamed it. i wonder what else goldsworthy was remixing back then.

i recall he did an amazing remix (and production work?) on david holmes' "don't die just yet", and he did the "unkle situation" remix of karmacoma, which is fantastic too

There's a great remix of Dawn of the Replicants' Skullcrusher from around then too - I think it's credited to David Holmes but I'm guessing it's as much Goldsworthy's work as he was his main engineer/producer/whatever guy back then.

i seem to recall that the (sick) UNKLE mix of 'vitamin c' by can, from that remixes comp, was his work also - discogs suggest he was no longer part of UNKLE at that stage though. maybe it was done before he left. seek it out in any case.

i always thought that remix was a bit of gilding the lily. it certainly sounds like goldsworthy's other remix work, though.
