Yeah the idea of a magically progressive punk rock scene, particularly in late 70’s LA, seems quaintly romantic. It’s weird to see this egalitarian punk gospel shit still peddled in 2019.

Are the Doe books good?

I've only read Under The Big Black Sun but it's a good read, he got essays from a wide variety of people (relatively speaking, for a book that's like a quarter the length of Please Kill Me) and you get a good sense of the color of the very early scene.
