And, even at his peak, he was at best a mediocre rapper

he never had much flow so if that's super-important to you then I can understand feeling that way, but in his early days a lot of his raps were funny and really memorable and that more than compensated for the fact that no one's ever going to mistake him for Rakim.

They reviewed the 2014 album and, for a similar example, Veruca Salt's Ghost Notes. Those are both from 4+ years ago, of course.
