Didn't quite manage to fill the ballot as I've been attempting to finagle my way into the Après Ski scene and I didn't want to take my chances with a fat ballot I might have to explain on the fly. Nevertheless, I voted.

Voted twice today. One for parliamentary elections, one for ILX.
My nominations were late and I had to let go of some top favorites, so I really can't complain about the selection. But it's rather poor to be honest :P

Man, making a ballot is hard! I thought everything I liked would be nominated by someone else, but I forgot I'm the only Dane on here, one of few Scandinavs. I think I'm missing, like, ten albums I'd want to put on there, and that makes it all really hard.

How am I supposed to make a ballot without Håkan Hellström or Kaizers Orchestra or Bjørn Svin or Under Byen or Tiger Tunes or...

had completely forgotten about EP when doing all my 00s listening (it seems like its weird status means it gets relatively overlooked compared to the first two fiery furnaces albums?) but im listening to it for the first time now and its by far my favourite fiery furnaces release already. all the things i liked from blueberry boat without the annoying bits

In the TRACKS poll, 100 voters gave points to 1560 tracks by 1185 artists.
In the ALBUMS poll, 111 voters gave points to 1397 albums by 1259 artists.

do we still want remix votes as part of the numbers for songs? i'm a bit torn because remixes are functionally completely different listening experiences...on the other hand, people might have still voted for the originals. what do we think. NOT THAT THIS CHANGES TOO MUCH *taps nose*

Add them together I say, voted for some remixes where I could have just as easily voted for the original (heartbeats, forever more). Seems unfair to punish a track for having another excellent version of itself

i think the only version of “forever more” nominated was the remix. regardless i have no opinion about this, both approaches have their merits

one might argue that when a track is remixed, it is no longer itself. also a 'divorced' approach celebrates remixes as discrete entities, of which several are in the top 100 under their own steam! i've asked seandalai to send the version of the rundown with remixes separated and i'll make a decision based on what you all say here + my gut instinct...

why wouldn't we combine remixes? we do during the EOY polls, and it gives a disadvantage to tracks that have a popular remix or more than one remix.

you cannot perform the same track twice but remixing is not the same as sampling, keeping the title is a choice to maintain the link the original, & it's ilx convention

covers don't usually function in the same way (never heard of a cover version included on a single) so I can't imagine it being an issue, but if there was a case where the cover version did come out immediately and was v much part of the same thing (a la mike flowers pops or frankee f u right back or whatever) and there was real split enthusiasm then sure, bundle them together. has anyone ever voted for an original and a remix? ofc no one thought you had to. splitting them serves no practical purpose other than making them less likely to show up.
