That's fine, most things on here are fine, bit annoying perhaps, but fine.

Madeleina Kay on the other hand, worst vocal performance of the millennium.

Would be less oppressive without the visuals.

pomenitul, Saturday, 19 October 2019 15:52 (six years ago)

The horribly distorted-sounding production is the worst thing about it.

drunk on hot toddies (morrisp), Saturday, 19 October 2019 16:10 (six years ago)

I don't mind that. They sound like Franz Ferdinand with fetal alcohol syndrome, but still better than the Strokes.

shared unit of analysis (unperson), Saturday, 19 October 2019 16:55 (six years ago)

I can tell how much I would've loved that if it came out in 2004, but it's basically: What if Franz Ferdinand, Art Brut and Dogs Die in Hot Cars teamed up to make an album paying homage to the legacy of Los Campesinos?

do you reckon that q'v'een herby is brazenly trying to break into the thinkpiece cycle (/pick up a few stray rageclicks here n there) or is she really truly following her muse here

she doesn't like sundays, she just finds them preferable to mondays

that would actually be a pretty good video if those two guys got stabbed right when they come into the office and the remaining 2:30 is just ambient office sounds

lol

alpine static, Thursday, 14 November 2019 23:19 (six years ago)

Man, I was stuck in a dentist's waiting room this morning, and no joke, whatever playlist they had on seemed to be literally all of my least favorite songs from the past several years, from "Hey Soul Sister" to that Bruno Mars "Count On Me" song to the Fray to ... well, more Train. I heard that atrocious "Play That Song" and "Drops of Jupiter," too. A lot of Train. I almost had to leave.

"dance monkey" is now becoming a big hit in the states oh dear

dyl, Sunday, 1 December 2019 09:03 (six years ago)

My daughter went with a friend to see a band called ... Watersports? Waterparks? Waterpolo? Whatever it was, it sounded miserable.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 1 December 2019 14:45 (six years ago)

ugh, never heard "Dance Monkey" until just now. It's bad, but the wiki entry starts with the makings of a good short story.

"Watson was born and raised in Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula. She learned how to play keyboards and drum pads at high school and later gathered experience performing local gigs and festivals."

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 1 December 2019 14:49 (six years ago)

It's been #1 over here for nine weeks now. Send help

groovypanda, Sunday, 1 December 2019 15:52 (six years ago)

i almost admire the "dance monkey" singer's commitment to her downright bizarre vocal affectations

dyl, Sunday, 1 December 2019 16:05 (six years ago)

Update: apparently my family has indeed heard it, but they do not seem to be fans. That sort of vocal affectation is all over the place these days.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 1 December 2019 16:22 (six years ago)

i like dance monkey...

okay I just figured out the name of this song on the radio where an insane cursed puppet child shrieks about all the terrible things she's going to do to you unless you carry out her bidding.

It's 'Dance Monkey' by Tones & I

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Monday, 10 February 2020 12:44 (six years ago)

my niece (12) loves this song and she's right

mark s, Monday, 10 February 2020 12:51 (six years ago)

It's one of these culture shock moments when you realise that something so weird can have such huge mass appeal... Her commitment to singing like a haunted Miss Piggy is commendable, but it also freaks me TF out.

doorstep jetski (dog latin), Monday, 10 February 2020 13:03 (six years ago)

the vocal is so crazy it just adds to the enjoyment/annoyance

ive never heard "before" pronounced as "befoay"...before

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Monday, 10 February 2020 13:30 (six years ago)

i was thinking more "demonic baby" than "insane cursed puppet child" myself
