listening to samples of the korda album wasn't doing it for me. i should check out the boiler room set huh, feels like i'm missing out considering all the praise it's been getting

honestly that Ben Ritz EP I posted upthread sounds like what I hoped the Chris Korda sounded like when I read about it

Not really house or techno tbh but it's on Comeme so it's going in here. Everything Joe releases is absolute gold

Korda's boiler room set was nice. Is Chris still encouraging people to kill themselves? I'm not much of a fan of that particular sort of edgelording.

with regard to Tim's post a week or so ago re: Bawrut, I think he is someone worth talking about. Personally I think he's very skilled in production terms but I find his tracks annoying, mostly. Shooreee is the one that I like. For most of the others I've heard, one listen is enough. Some of them don't bear a full listen to the end of the track tho. I just get annoyed by them.

I can totally see/hear that others might find the aspects I find annoying to be interesting. Enjoy yourself!

xpost to jed - his arpeggio track wore out its welcome for me after like 2 listens. its pretty annoying imo.

from a patio set i did yesterday on the last warm night of the year, this got some twirls:

The word Bawrut really does sound an STD from Glasgow.

I love that Beautiful Swimmers comp and I cannot recommend enough their recorded mix from Hot Mass (not to be confused with _jed's long-running excellent club night Hot Mess)

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 9 October 2019 23:05 (four years ago) link

(I couldn't get into the Bawrut tracks either)

change display name (Jordan), Wednesday, 9 October 2019 23:37 (four years ago) link

i like them. to my mind ultimately they're acid trax. with the kind of embarrassingly on the nose epicness that can imply.

Li'l Brexit (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 9 October 2019 23:40 (four years ago) link

That Beautiful Swimmers track is pretty cool. Super-deep.

Based on these recommendations I will now listen to the new Lone track and the new Lone Track album. I don’t know these artists and may be doing something wrong, but I’m curious.

I don't understand Sfire or whats supposed to be good about what they've put out. Anyone care to enlighten me?

Heavy Messages (jed_), Saturday, 2 November 2019 05:14 (four years ago) link

I've read (but can't find the quote) someone saying that sfire 7 is the most perfect end of night tune ever, or something like that. It sounds like a wonky 2.5 minute New Order demo to me.

Heavy Messages (jed_), Saturday, 2 November 2019 05:23 (four years ago) link

sfire 7 sucks, but 2 is all-time. naive and wonky melodic closer is p classic idk

this thread has introduced me to sfire and i am thankful. btw everything i've heard on cocktail d'amore has been great. probably i don't want to sleep on the rest of that label's back catalog.

davey, Thursday, 7 November 2019 15:24 (four years ago) link

I really want to go to cocktail d'amour one weekend. apparently berghain is much less busy the weekend that CTD'A is on.

One of the subtler tracks from the Lizz album. The best ones not up yet but this is a grower. Album is pretty sprawling so some tracks get lost
