lastly idk how I missed that there's a new Tiny Moving Parts out Friday and they've released three excellent advance tracks? nothing really new but no one else writes concise hooky math-emo quite like them

aaand brad was not lying about the Microwave album. it's seriously good

the TMP is also good but in a more "on par" kinda way (nothing wrong with that)

Simon H., Saturday, 14 September 2019 08:19 (six years ago)

yes the microwave is a scorcher

american bradass (BradNelson), Saturday, 14 September 2019 12:02 (six years ago)

Can't stop listening to Modern Baseball's complete discography these past few days. They were such a good band, I really miss them.

Marty8501 (Marty Innerlogic), Saturday, 14 September 2019 14:26 (six years ago)

While I'm here, I've got to also recommend the equally difficult to categorise and wonderful Glass Beach

whoa what the fuck is this record

I wanted to like that Microwave album a lot because it reminds me of so many bands and sounds that i love, but couldn't fully get into it. I've been obsessed with the Glass Beach album since mentioned in here. Jesus. seem like really nice people too. got back to me after I said some nice things on instagram and they were lovely. Hope they come to ny.

gman59, Saturday, 28 September 2019 17:46 (six years ago)

it might have been a mistake to instinctively skip last year's Cursive record cause the advance tracks from the new one are sounding solid

Simon H., Tuesday, 1 October 2019 14:23 (six years ago)

two weeks pass...

holy crap this glass beach album is so balls-to-the-wall, it's like if los campesinos wrote the soundtrack to la la land

flopsy bird (voodoo chili), Thursday, 17 October 2019 16:23 (six years ago)

the new 95-minute Jeff Rosenstock record gives you a very good sense of their show right down to the anti-harassment warning, even if I'm mad "Get Old Forever" somehow didn't make the cut

Simon H., Friday, 18 October 2019 05:13 (six years ago)

*live record, sorry if that made anyone too excited lol

Simon H., Friday, 18 October 2019 05:13 (six years ago)

new 95-minute Jeff Rosenstock record wait what?... Aw shit yes, I'll be in on this today

Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Friday, 18 October 2019 06:37 (six years ago)

i also just discovered the glass beach record lol

ciderpress, Thursday, 24 October 2019 22:05 (six years ago)

weird coincidence as I was just relistening. great album!!

Simon H., Thursday, 24 October 2019 22:06 (six years ago)

Has anyone else tried the Weatherday album? Strong Brave Little Abacus vibes, but much faster and brighter. It takes roughly two seconds to begin digging the album a lot, and although it doesn't sustain that heart-in-stomach feeling all the way through, there are some insane highs.

tangenttangent, Friday, 25 October 2019 10:59 (six years ago)

Great Grandpa love: here or the indiepop/jangle thread?

alpine static, Friday, 25 October 2019 23:14 (six years ago)

... it seems my favorite pop-punk band fireworks has reunited. you can hear a new song after filling out the short silly survey on this page https://www.higherlonelypower.com/

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 November 2019 16:17 (six years ago)

american bradass (BradNelson), Thursday, 7 November 2019 16:22 (six years ago)

good question. haven't listened to the full album yet, but the singles were all excellent.

kanye kendrick frank kendrick frank kanye (voodoo chili), Thursday, 7 November 2019 17:17 (six years ago)

i'm obsessed with the album. it gives me goosebumps.

i thought Plastic Cough was OK, but this one is a huge leap forward (pardon the cliche)

alpine static, Thursday, 7 November 2019 18:43 (six years ago)

Oh wow, neither of you were lying about this Great Grandpa album.

Simon H., Thursday, 7 November 2019 20:21 (six years ago)

american bradass (BradNelson), Friday, 8 November 2019 16:40 (six years ago)

oh wow this great grandpa album! the band name really put it off but i finally just put it on and i'm so glad i did!

Mordy, Monday, 11 November 2019 21:57 (six years ago)

I hesitate to make the comparison but it makes me think of a slightly more extroverted/rockin' Big Thief

Simon H., Monday, 11 November 2019 22:19 (six years ago)

Rosenstock + Stevenson have a Neil Young covers EP out! For some reason!

Simon H., Tuesday, 12 November 2019 16:59 (six years ago)

american bradass (BradNelson), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 17:31 (six years ago)

as much as I like that album I do get a "this is the one right before the amazing one" vibe from it

Simon H., Wednesday, 13 November 2019 18:13 (six years ago)

that’s probably/hopefully true

american bradass (BradNelson), Wednesday, 13 November 2019 18:38 (six years ago)

Anyone at Dashboard tonight? O-O

tangenttangent, Friday, 15 November 2019 20:39 (six years ago)

in spirit<3

Mordy, Friday, 15 November 2019 20:42 (six years ago)

what did u think about the now is then is now releases? i only listened through once but wasn't super blown away...

Mordy, Friday, 15 November 2019 20:44 (six years ago)

No, me neither. I think he was quite self aware about how little people seemed to respond to them. It just seemed a very personal mission. The venue tonight is a Catholic Church, which is cool! Aaw Mordy if me and LJ ever come to the US we’ll try to time it with a Dashboard gig.

tangenttangent, Friday, 15 November 2019 20:46 (six years ago)

is it a small venue bc he doesn't have such a big following in uk or a big church? when he plays philly/jersey/ny area he always sells out moderate sized venues (sold out two nights in philly during this most recent tour)
