Part of the problem (and this is why I haven't gotten started on the series of classical polls, incidentally) is that it's hard to find a reliable master database of classical releases sorted by year.

Makes sense. I often have a hard time with classical music when it comes to this kind of thing since it's by and large not a music built around the recorded medium. Not only do I often enjoy it live (or by actually playing it) but even with albums themselves, I often listen to individual pieces as opposed to albums as a whole - and don't necessarily think the recording I have is definitive.

Most definitely. I'll do those polls regardless but it's going to take a while for me to cross that bridge.

so i'm getting the impression from the noms so far that any remixes one may end up voting for ought to be nominated even if the original already has been

but what about the case of trax which were released during the eligibility period (2000-09) but which hardly anyone knew about until afterward? i'm thinking of one track which is primarily known as an album cut from a 2010 lp altho it had also come out on a very limited run cassette single in 09 that i'm sure hardly anyone bought at the time outside the artist's local scene. i'm also thinking of another track which was released digitally in 09 but which apparently no one knew about until 2011 (it placed on ilm's 2011 trax poll ;P )
