I think these shows will happen because deep down they must know they’re practically worthless unless they are on stage / studio together.

Noel's stuff isn't bad

Yeah Noel's better off as is.

The looming will they/won't they reminds me of nothing as much as Take That and Robbie in the few years prior to Progress. Because the ongoing speculation itself is the ace to be played, a failproof dollop of syrup for interviews. If a reunion tour happens it'll make everyone happy and then a year on once it's over Noel will go back to HFB, Liam reluctantly goes back to his dull stuff, and fewer people will care for either than they do right now. Chase > catch etc.

i hope they're just teasing a new definitely maybe reissue but i am confused that they aren't just waiting another two days for whatever they're announcing

xp Oasis rumoured to reform with only the Gallagher brothers – and no other original members - in other Oasis news, Noel and Liam are brothers, apparently. And verily, twas ever going to be so that an Oasis reunion doth consist of Noel, Liam, and various characters from the last few decades whomst the brothers Gallacher hath not pissed off. Which rules out Tony (fired by Noel), Paul (fired? I don't remember), and Bonehead (lost his spot as lead guitarist when Noel showed up, then fired?).

Kinda feel like they should lean into that, have a second backing band ready and fire Noel's band mid-set.

They risk alienating the hardcore Tony McCaroll stans.

The Bonehead's Boners stan army is not liking this news.

Not sure why they even need yet another Def Maybe reissue though (okay, I do.. $$$$$) since there was the fairly extensive one with all the bonus stuff in 2014 and a fancy 25th anniversary vinyl one in 2019.

Bonehead left "to spend time with his family" and has occasionally played in Liam's band.

Also some rumors floating around that this is all just to launch a new Def Maybe themed Manchester City kit. That would be an excellent troll.

The main draw to the new Def Maybe set is the Monnow Valley sessions

I never got into Oasis until my partner, who is a big fan, so I gave them a good listen just to find some common ground. I'd say for a couple of years (1994 and 1995), they really were excellent, even churning out a lot of top-notch non-album material to go along with Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory. That's pretty much all the Oasis I'd go back to, but that's still quite a bit of music.

It really is all you need. But its unlikely they would stick to just that material.

what's right with you people

listening to morning glory. as ever it strikes me that 'hey now!' is the most album tracky album track ever. lengthy, a bit tuneless, no one's favourite, there in good spirits as a breather between the big hitters.

There's definitely a Cockney walk, a guy I used to work with had it. There's also a Glasgow/West of Scotland walk. The latter is more of a strut, so is the former but not as marked.

I joined the hot take tsunami this morning, spending 10 minutes talking about Oasis on BBC Radio Nottingham. Turns out that the presenter is a passionate lifelong fan, so I enjoyed taking a broadly contrary stance.
