i assume the actual cover won't have the release date printed on it.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

and will there be any white border, if that is indeed the cover art? i've been assuming there will be, but now i think maybe no.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

the border was really what differentiated the new cover from the music has the right one to me, very similar art but very diff't design approach.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

i take it the border is to make it look like a polaroid or something? it also makes it not square so i guess thatt's the cover but the border's not part of it.

where was that thread with the fake boards of canada song titles? i can't find it but it's one of my favourite threads ever.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

it's probably not even the cover art you dicks!

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

haha i was just thinking of the fake tracklist jed. i'm not sure where it is either though. xp

sleep (sleep), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

cutty is right, of course.

sleep (sleep), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:41 (twenty years ago)

WOW THOSE COVERS LOOK ALIKE OMG

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

If it is the actualy album art.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

if it is the cover i'd like it more if Geogaddi's had been a variation on the same theme too.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

where is the listening party?

jane (jane), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

fahking around on da synthasiza #12

I want this to exist! IDM = Illiterate Dance Music

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

Whenever I read that song title, I imagine it being said by, like, Holger Czukay or somebody.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

WHERE IS THE FOOKIN LISTENING PARTY?

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 22:35 (twenty years ago)

Those look nothing alike. The top image is clearly 300 X 267 pixels while the new one is 454 X 510 pixels!! That's 151440 more innit?

walter kranz (walterkranz), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

True. The new album will be released on a cd that is 7" in diameter - requiring a package that is over 50% larger.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

One of the tracks leaked. Not sure which though. Buit its here:

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

?

hari where did you get that?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

It's a secret.

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:19 (twenty years ago)

:(

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

This sort of sounds like a fake... then again I remember that whole deal with the "fake" Autechre album that leaked, which actually ended up being the real thing...

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

I heard the entire album leaked, they I don't have anything concrete to substantiate that.

Smetric, Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

I will go out on a limb and say it's not fake. The drum loop is underprogrammed, but the synth textures are pretty fully realized.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

Sounds like them. Even if it is a fake - it's quite good!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

if it's not them, it's a good imitation.

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

xpost

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

I don't have anymore songs though :(

This does sound like the real thing. But the way it cuts out at the end makes me think it might be a demo or something.

Googley Asearch (Toaster), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and the Chemicals comparison (I'd see these next to each other at the various record stores at the time of their release)

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005U1YO.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005Y0Q4.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

not identical obviously (and not some kind of "rip-off") but just walking by them in the store could lead one to think they were the same.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

The drums on that leaked track are v Mr Scruff/Viberty. I keep thinking back to Gareth's complain about BOC's drums. Sometimes I loved the beats but other times he had a point.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

According to one of the main BoC fansites, this is the cover art: [image removed! it was goatse! not spencer's fault! - mod]

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

That also appears on Pitchfork.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

Goatse, we meet again....

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Has anyone heard the background music on the music70 website? I honestly don't know if it's something from MHTRTC or not.

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:42 (twenty years ago)

the drums sound thin on that track.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:44 (twenty years ago)

(thanks MODS!)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

Let's see if Pitchfork does it to us too!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:50 (twenty years ago)

Also, non-goatse website: http://www.boardsofcanada.com/ seems to have samples from the um, what is it, Telefire Campspace Octogon Moon?

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

(thanks Mark! for modding)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:52 (twenty years ago)

campfire headphase is a googlewhack! not for long i imagine ....

zappi (joni), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 23:58 (twenty years ago)

http://www.boardsofcanada.com/ people! Trippy, duuuude!

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Thursday, 11 August 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

Oh wait old stuff.

Leeeeeeee (Leee), Thursday, 11 August 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

no problem spencer!

boc's official site hasn't been updated in three years. but man, how ridiculously talented is james tindall.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 11 August 2005 00:05 (twenty years ago)

Does anyone know where to get that "Trails" track from the site?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 11 August 2005 00:06 (twenty years ago)

I'm not so big on that leaked track. It seems to run out of ideas after the first two minutes and just plods along for the final three.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 11 August 2005 00:07 (twenty years ago)

i wouldnt be at all surprised if it turned out to be a Luke Vibert track

zappi (joni), Thursday, 11 August 2005 00:09 (twenty years ago)

yeah it sounds like him "remixing" BoC.
my tinny computer speakers are not good for assessing drum tracks.

oops (Oops), Thursday, 11 August 2005 01:16 (twenty years ago)

Needs kerning.
