Hoping that's one of Liam's song titles.

Listening to Wish You Were Here for the first time in like five years because PINK FLOYD RULES.

just occurred to me that this is totally one of these album titles if it were paired with less serious album art (or less self serious band)

Badfinger actually beat Floyd to that title by a year or so.

This ‘90s title is a very pure example of the thread premise:

LOL @ cranberries, perfect example. Feel like the 90s were kind of a soft renaissance for this thing

“Hakuna Matata,” a nihilist philosophy (One Eye Open), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:27 (six years ago)

what's interesting is how the same types of titles conveyed a subtly different message in the age of irony, ennui goth teens, and 2-3 years between albums-as-calling-cards, versus just cranking out another couple sides of blues rock whatever to sell on the tour.

Good morning, how are you, I'm (Doctor Casino), Monday, 22 July 2019 14:51 (six years ago)

Yeah its funny to compare the way the they read btw the two eras. In the 90s it was meant to convey this knowing wink at consumerism & let you know that they saw through the whole showbiz game & were savvy postmodernists. Whereas the aw-shucks 70s titles had this endearing humility thing like "Yeah I'm dumb & this album kind of sucks, what do you want from me, take it or leave it"

“Hakuna Matata,” a nihilist philosophy (One Eye Open), Monday, 22 July 2019 15:30 (six years ago)

the aw shucks album title kinda lived on in the 90s with third wave ska, complete with the albums kinda sucking
