― but I can't let Trae do it I got Huerter on my mind (Spottie)

Are you asking who Delia Derbyshire is or what this specific track is about, or both?

ready or not should've been top ten we have failed

PE track another example of "mid-tier song on classic album that happens to be under two minutes" imo

xps Man I thought that was just the Doctor Who theme and Karl was just making TARDIS noises or something. But that is weird and awesome!

Audrey Tautoulogy (Leee), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 17:25 (seven years ago)

so this is what the dB's and Elastica sound like. cool!

A #1 vote for "Show 'Em Whatcha Got?"

I nominated "Ready or Not" but foolishly ended up cutting it from my ballot.

B&S reappears here, after adding in an additional vote:

you forget that whiney posts to ilx ;)

i would be a little surprised if whiney put that at #1

'Molly's Lips' an absolute classic. Vaselines were surprisingly good as grown-ass adults when I saw them play, seeing as their schtick was very much that of dorky kids dicking about.

liked this; didn't vote for it

I liked that song a lot too; I listened to the album it appears on for the first time last night. A little patchy but I will be revisiting

I don't really know that album well but early Boos stuff definitely includes some gorgeous tracks.

Wait, KM = ex. Z S?

lefal junglist platton (wtev), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 18:27 (seven years ago)

This was my number 3. Totally perfect song.

It was also the alarm sound on my phone for a few years, so now it makes me even readier to fuck shit up than it already did

ballot result: one-way tie for 51st

xxp yes indeed

Emperor Tonetta Ketchup (sleeve), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 18:31 (seven years ago)

Also, I didn’t vote for Show Em What You Got, but it’s more than just a filler track. It’s classic Bomb Squad, and it eventually inspired one of the best songs on Da Drought 3

Yeah, i think people are overlooking that these rap interstitials are showcases for the producers, not the rappers.

Everything's Alright Forever is the only Boos album and only shoegaze album I really rate and it's all killer no filler imo.

what if bod was one of us (ledge), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 18:46 (seven years ago)

"White Riot" was casualty of my self-imposed "max three songs per artist" rule, so I'm glad it made it.

Timothée Charalambides (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 18:48 (seven years ago)

Is this the 7" version or the LP version? On Discogs, the former is 1:58 and the latter 1.55. (I think the LP version is significantly better... but I didn't vote for it.)

mike t-diva, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 18:57 (seven years ago)

this would be the LP version (listed as 1:56 on Spotify)

Yeah absolutely that's no filler. The title alone epitomises what PE was about

lefal junglist platton (wtev), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 19:35 (seven years ago)

"White Riot" was casualty of my self-imposed "max three songs per artist" rule, so I'm glad it made it.

Why impose a rule like that? Surely if a song is good enough you vote for it?

lefal junglist platton (wtev), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 19:38 (seven years ago)

my rule was one song per artist. ballots can become very lopsided otherwise. diversity is good

imago, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 19:41 (seven years ago)

It's also the kind of rule that comes in handy when you have to make difficult cuts.

Chris L, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 19:43 (seven years ago)

imago, Wednesday, 10 April 2019 19:43 (seven years ago)

i think you're looking for the long songs poll

to halve and half not (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 10 April 2019 19:50 (seven years ago)

totes agree; that's why I self-imposed a rule on my ballot wherein I could vote only for one artist from each country AND no more than one artist per genre. not to brag but I do believe my ballot is the most diversest, most ethically pure, most best. it optimally represents not just my own personal taste in music songs no greater than 120 seconds, but also/simultaneously my idealized taste for everyone else too, on their behalf. so you're welcome
