i bought an awesome new record today. split LP by ID M Theft Able/Cave Bears on Feeding Tube Records. I bought mine from a very nice Cave Bear dude and you can buy a copy in my shop if you want one. i have exactly two for sale. the cave bears side is their tribute to the Germs and i like it a bunch. i might write it up for my noize column.

the yellow vinyl, i'm guessing.

That's not very weird, though. Because it's Smithsonian Folkways? I guess they're supposed to have some ascetic sensibility.

daytrip to Portland and Mississippi records, picked up new Dog Faced Hermans "Hum Of Life" reissue (one of my fave 90's albums), a new MS LP by Bishop Perry Tillis (haven't heard yet), and the Pierced Arrows LP. I would have looked around more but I am broke. Love buying those LPs direct from the store, ten bucks a pop.
Richard Bishop is playing here July 2nd, so psyched. I have not yet seen a physical copy of the new record.

i hope he has stuff for sale at the show on tuesday. i will buy. i bought 3 crank sturgeon tapes at tonight's show. he was a hoot and a half.
― scott seward, Sunday, 14 June 2009 04:28 (sixteen years ago)
crank sturgeon is great, i got to record him and id m theft able (similar stuff) performing together, it was like two jaap blonks having a heart attack in jean dubuffet's trashcan.

i love Cherry's "Mu." I think they're my favorite of his records. Just how PRETTY they are, and how the bits worm their way into my earholes.

Black Hole soundtrack .. interesting .. obligatory Father's Day post, I loved the Black Hole so much when it came out that my dad took me to see it twice in the theater. Couple years later when "strong songs" WJLB used Alexander Robotnick's "Probleme's d'Amour" in their promo commercial and Electrifying Mojo played it on his show, I swore tbat Robotnick stole the main synth lick from the music that plays while the space station is shown hurtling toward the black hole in the flick ...

god damn you :( I have been scouring the internet for a reasonably-priced copy of that record ever since becoming the last person on earth to discover No Other a few months ago.
to contribute, I've been trading a bunch of CDs and DVDs in lately and putting it towards vinyl, so:
- Grizzly Bear, Veckatimest ($7.99 new w/ free Amazon Prime shipping! packaging was absurd, though - they put it in a big-ass cardboard box w/ a bunch of PVC balloon bags; I mean I'm not usually Captain Save-A-Environment or anything but it was kind of stunningly wasteful.)- Animal Collective, Merriweather Post Pavilion - Karen Dalton, It's So Hard To Tell Who's Going To Love You The Best (AMAZING)- Cat Power, The Greatest (sold my CD copy a while back but it's like night and day w/ the vinyl. just amazingly warm & beautiful.)- Vashti Bunyan, Lookaftering (ditto) - Blue Magic s/t- Todd Rundgren, A Wizard, A True Star (for some reason this sounds like ass - the record doesn't look particularly worn or anything, but there's barely any bottom end whatsoever)- DJ Kaos 12" (omg @ the Tiedye remix)- Walter Jones 12"
