why is buying the bundle of 3 bms singles more expensive than buying 3 individual singles?
shit is awesome, anyway.

mizzell, Wednesday, 10 June 2009 18:07 (seventeen years ago)

so great that all the new 12"s are only $8- is this actually a new thing or do i just have a terrible memory?

really into that walter jones. also looking forward to altair's stuff!

psychgawsple, Friday, 12 June 2009 07:22 (seventeen years ago)

(jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Friday, 12 June 2009 22:30 (seventeen years ago)

ok, nm. think he's singing on 'i'll keep on loving you' and there's a girl singing on 'living w/o your love'

eduardo altamonte (jergins), Friday, 12 June 2009 22:58 (seventeen years ago)

Walter Jones 12" is ridiculously good. when DFA get it right, they get it right.

pipecock, Saturday, 13 June 2009 04:13 (seventeen years ago)

just came back from hearing justin and jacques (and lovefingers) dj at what used to be a sex club while dancing on the bottom of what used to be a small pool. I left early because I'm old, but it was pretty cool, even though I thought the false floor on the bottom of the pool above the lights seemed like it might let me fall through at any moment.

dan selzer, Saturday, 13 June 2009 06:40 (seventeen years ago)

It looks like the 12"s don't come with the posters unless you buy as a bundle, and if you buy them together you get them all at once instead of on their release dates. LOVING this album, especially "World Eater."

Telephone thing, Monday, 15 June 2009 05:10 (seventeen years ago)

Absolutely loving that Justin Miller DFA mix posted upthread.

W i l l, Friday, 19 June 2009 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah what exactly is the status of the Six Finger Satellite reissues? Did I miss them or is this project still bubbling away in the DFA lab? I mean I have the originals... but the kids don't.

Nate Carson, Friday, 19 June 2009 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

If I don't find out the name of the song being played at 56:00 - 58:40 of that Justin Miller DFA mix, then I will be totally depressed forever. HELP!

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 03:42 (sixteen years ago)

go here and pick that show out of the pull-down menu
http://www.viva-radio.com/index.php?contributor=131

dmr, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 03:55 (sixteen years ago)

it's between but is not either the plez nor shit robot (of course that's assuming the t/l is in order) so i'm still in the dark

task force vs the brisbane punks (electricsound), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 04:07 (sixteen years ago)

Found it! It is called "Simple Things (Work It Out) (Serge Santiago Remix)" by Shit Robot and it will be released on July 14th. Awesome!

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 05:27 (sixteen years ago)

ugh so is there any reason that dfa is re-releasing this woolfy album from two years ago with 2 fewer original tracks (replaced by remixes)? are these remixes worth it, did they re-record things or what?

if not, laaame. the album never did much for me the first time around, not sure it deserves another airing

psychgawsple, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 21:27 (sixteen years ago)

Really, really feeling the Black Meteoric Star. Way more than expected (although I'm not sure why, I really liked the D and G album). Especially love "Death Tunnel", "Dominatron", "Dreamcatcher", and "Anthem".

matt2, Thursday, 25 June 2009 17:48 (sixteen years ago)

new Holy Ghost! single "I Will Come Back" is great, possibly better than "Hold On"

Malcolm Money, Sunday, 28 June 2009 16:02 (sixteen years ago)

when is it released?

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Sunday, 28 June 2009 16:04 (sixteen years ago)

is it the one with michael mcdonald?

psychgawsple, Sunday, 28 June 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

Wait a second. HG's single is being released by Mountain Dew? WTF?

BleepBot, Sunday, 28 June 2009 16:49 (sixteen years ago)

Black Meteoric Star album is FANTASTIC. It's like the missing link between Orbital and krautrock, just so WARM and fuzzy and oh the textures, the sonic textures. It's full of wub and I love it.

is his stuff with Delia Gonzales like this? Coz in that case, I need to get some of that.

Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 28 June 2009 17:14 (sixteen years ago)

That's Tangerine Dreamy minimalist synthy stuff, different but still very good.

EDB, Sunday, 28 June 2009 17:17 (sixteen years ago)

Ok, that pushes my buttons! Will check it out.

Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 28 June 2009 17:27 (sixteen years ago)

if u dig the bms, definitely chck out his petar dundov remix from earlier in the year

and yes the delia and gavin stuff is so so great

psychgawsple, Sunday, 28 June 2009 17:41 (sixteen years ago)

"I Will Come Back" available here (by permission of Holy Ghost!)

as posted on the DFA forum:
"yeah, we got a very small run of white labels today and we're going to give a handful to one of our favorite record stores in NYC to give away. We're also doing a limited run of full artwork 12"s beautifully designed by DFA art wiz Michael Vadino, the ENTIRE run of which will be given away too (just have to figure out how). That's a couple weeks away though.

And we got killer remixes from DJ Mehdi and Classixx - did I mention that? "

Malcolm Money, Sunday, 28 June 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

OK, I no longer understand genres at all, because that Petar Dundov remix thingey, to my ears, that is just straight up dronerock. A wonderful thing indeed.

Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 28 June 2009 19:12 (sixteen years ago)

just listening to it now but uh this is great news -- u mean folks can get paid to make music again??

zzz (deej), Sunday, 28 June 2009 23:55 (sixteen years ago)

I'm sure Mt. Dew cares very deeply about the careers of its artists. Forget major labels! I can't wait for that album to drop on Wonder Bread Recordings. Get paid!

pipecock, Monday, 29 June 2009 00:16 (sixteen years ago)

who cares if mt dew cares about my career as an artist? just tryin to pay some rent bro

zzz (deej), Monday, 29 June 2009 00:36 (sixteen years ago)

lol @ engaging with you but seriously

zzz (deej), Monday, 29 June 2009 00:36 (sixteen years ago)

altho u might have a point -- this song does include the lyrics "drink mountain dew"

zzz (deej), Monday, 29 June 2009 00:43 (sixteen years ago)

and why not? it is a refreshing drink that exhilarates and quenches with its one-of-a-kind great taste®

the shock will be coupled with the need to dance (jim), Monday, 29 June 2009 00:45 (sixteen years ago)

Does anyone know if Dr. Pepper needs some acid house joints? Seriously, I need a new car.

BleepBot, Monday, 29 June 2009 05:17 (sixteen years ago)

(jaxon) ( .) ( .) (jaxon), Monday, 29 June 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i like it ok but its def not as good as 'hold on'

zzz (deej), Monday, 29 June 2009 08:07 (sixteen years ago)

the black meteoric star album is so A+

lex pretend, Monday, 29 June 2009 08:13 (sixteen years ago)

Ha ha, Lex stay out of my record collection. You'll be liking dronerock next!

Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Monday, 29 June 2009 08:23 (sixteen years ago)

the holy ghost! track isn't nu-disco it's straight up synth-pop which is a fine thing but the track, especially the vocal, kind of sucks. i agree with jaxon.
