amazon cd prices are usually complete hallucinations on the seller's part. that said, i'd probably pay embarrassing money for an LP of do dallas.

Looking at eBay completed listings, a copy of the Mcluskyism 3CD set went for $29.57 the other day... less than half the Amazon asking price.

That's still almost three times what it cost when it came out mind you

Do we have any idea what the meaning of the asterisk on their name is? I'm guessing that it has something to do with the line-up but would be delighted to know more.

Now known as Mclusky* (asterisk in reference to missing members), the band reformed to play The Garage in London on 3 December 2015 to raise money for cancer research with Rat the Magnificent (featuring Ian Catskilkin of Art Brut).

McLusky Do Dallas is one of the best albums ever made.

Also, to add a current bit of minutia, I think that Idles are the heir apparent to McLusky (not including Future of the Left). I spoke briefly to singer Joe Talbot briefly when they played Philly a year or two ago and mentioned this and he confirmed that at least one Idles member was a big fan.

I don’t think Idles are furious in the same way as Mclusky, and certainly don’t have the same dark humour.

I'll let them know that they were wrong when they told me.

YES to the Arming Eritrea song. That Future of the Left record is a powerhouse. There's a song towards the end, Drink Nike which is also a stunner.

I agree 'Do Dallas' is their best but 'The Difference' is the one I listen to most. It is indeed tight as fuck noise rock, but that slightlier poppy side on the 3rd gives it so much more.

As far as humour goes, Mclusky have the distinction of actually being funny, especially on a line-by-line basis.

Seeing them again tonight. By February it'll be three times in 6 months, which isn't bad for a band that split up 15 years ago.

I saw them at a tiny venue in Atlanta . . . I can't remember when. Fifteen years ago? More? Anyway, they opened with "Lightsaber Cocksucking Blues," after which my friend and I were like, "You ready to go? Yeah, me too."

I'm guessing it was 2004. The opener was Yourcodenameis:Milo, who were touring for their first album.

No, these songs are being released digitally as a fund raisers for reapplying for US visas, I believe the plan is then to hopefully reschedule the US dates next yr
