This placing lower than Puberty 2 did is fair and just.

I've been out with a terrible cold since Monday so I've missed most of this but this seems like a very good time for me to appear and say too low

for me the problem isn't filler lyrics (all lyrics should be filler imo), it's when, idk yeah i guess when things are corny or out of place and you just think "why on earth would you try to stuff that idea or that commentary into this song in this way, i'm trying to groove here !!"

Janelle Monáe - Dirty Computer album/film
Andrew Trendell: "Throwing in rap, soul, pop, R&B, space-rock and whatever the hell she wants with her fearless message, Janelle Monáe doesn’t believe in walls or limits: this is a fluid celebration of freedom, raging and raving against the oppressors. In fact, only one label sticks – icon."
Charis McGowan: "'Dirty Computer' captures the plight of today's outsiders who are fighting back, forming the world to be. Monáe is 10 steps ahead, past the Trump era, embracing the robot-utopia that gives hope to an unprejudiced and equal world. She´s already there - now the rest of us have to catch up."

yea the more I listen to it the more I realize this is true
still a great record from front to back though. definitely deserves its high placing here; every time I listen to it I have a new favorite song

I've just noticed Moka's album image template complements The 1975 cover art particularly well. Ye cannae see the join, colour-wise and you've got the sideways on text thing too. Was this in fact your starting point for all of these, Moka, or is that just a coincidence?
― Jeff W, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:41 (seven years ago)
Alfred, you can just hold down on the key on a phone and it gives you the full diacritical list :D

I was psyched about this when it came out, but lost interest quickly. Corniness indeed! Still plenty of good-to-great tracks.

Hell yeah! Amazing album, not a single bad or even mediocre tune on it! I don't mind the corny lyrics, because she has so much stuff on her chest and she's almost always on point. Dropping the whole theater school cyborg concept works for her favour here, IMO this album is where she finally fully realises on the promises first made by "Many Moons" ten years ago.
― Tuomas, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:43 (seven years ago)
is the new Datarock album gonna make it

― bhad bundy (Simon H.), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:44 (seven years ago)
when the D&C album came out I wrote it was exactly the sort of thing that was gonna go ignored for a long time and then get rediscovered 10-15 years later
― frogbs, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:45 (seven years ago)
it's a great top 4
― omar little, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:45 (seven years ago)

Yeah it works really good on that one but it's a coincidence. The first albums I actually used for tests were Low, Janelle Monae and Christine and the Queens as I was sure they'd make it in the top 77 (I started doing tests before knowing the results) and I needed to see how well the format would work on three different kinds of text lengths.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:45 (seven years ago)
any one of them is a good #1 and now i have no idea which one will wind up there
― omar little, Thursday, 7 February 2019 19:46 (seven years ago)
the beths on #10, i guess that means that 3 albums of my ballot are in the top ten.

Jenn Pelly: "If Holter’s preceding records were novellas, Aviary feels more like a meticulously organized compilation of mind-altering field notes in which a single page can be a world, and its depth is stunning."
