The 1975 would be my guess but it is very much a guess.

Gavin, Leeds, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:41 (seven years ago)

Was surprised by hte massive 1975 love in the singles thread so I guess they win this, which would be boring!

abcfsk, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:42 (seven years ago)

The Low album had a broader constituency than i would have expected

rob, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:42 (seven years ago)

tfs had a massive campaign push (courtesy Simon H) with lots of receptive replies, is all

in the blue corner, rolling blackouts coastal fever

in the green corner, the beths (nz = australia, lol)

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:44 (seven years ago)

1975 album was a huge letdown after the last one and it winning would be rly terrible but that is probably my guess

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:44 (seven years ago)

I think it's way better than the last one but still don't think it should win (nor will)

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 4 February 2019 13:45 (seven years ago)

I predict snail mail will get a top five placing

. (Michael B), Monday, 4 February 2019 13:45 (seven years ago)

The Amen Dunes record is the only one of his I've liked. The playing is tight.

Your sweetie-pie-coo-coo I love ya (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 4 February 2019 13:45 (seven years ago)

oh i wasn't counting the beths and completely forgot about rbcf because that's the sort of band they are

low were definitely the most unexpected longtime act over the last few years to have a sudden critical resurgence like that but double negative is also the best of any of those albums

ufo, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:46 (seven years ago)

1975 seems like the safest bet. They got the most total points in the tracks.

I suppose Ariana's not in the running?

jmm, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:46 (seven years ago)

ariana will do well enough but was pretty polarising here and i'd hope she doesn't do better than she did with dangerous woman which remains underrated

ufo, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:47 (seven years ago)

I'm more interested in finding out about good albums I haven't heard so the 77-60 range is where that's going to happen. Not that arsed which order the big albums come in.

Oor Neechy, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:49 (seven years ago)

feel free to predict what albums you haven't heard of will finish in the 77-60 range

my name is leee john, for we are many (NickB), Monday, 4 February 2019 13:50 (seven years ago)

some techno nonsense ;)

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:51 (seven years ago)

j/k i've heard of all the albums

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:52 (seven years ago)

my prediction for 78 is once again something i voted for. maybe suede

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:53 (seven years ago)

My prediction for #78 is Current 93

tangenttangent, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:54 (seven years ago)

oof that'd suck

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:55 (seven years ago)

i haven't got around to listening to the c93 yet, usually i would be a voter for it

ciderpress, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:56 (seven years ago)

I'd be surprised if C93 makes the top 100 tbh. Sure as hell deserves to be, but I don't vote so er

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 4 February 2019 13:57 (seven years ago)

African albums that will place: Burna Boy, Sun-El Musician (which one will place highest?) and Simmy (would have placed highest if only...).

Who the hell knows: Mlindo The Vocalist?, Busiswa??, Mr Eazi???, Aya Nakamura????

breastcrawl, Monday, 4 February 2019 13:59 (seven years ago)

sun-el musician shouldn't be ruled out of top 5 speculation tbh given how much people like his stuff

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:01 (seven years ago)

i'd be really delighted if mlindo or busiswa place but i'm not getting my hopes up

ufo, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:03 (seven years ago)

Wherever Simmy lands, add 40 imaginary points from me.

jmm, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:03 (seven years ago)

Still heartbroken that I forgot to nom the Spice tape/album. It's ferocious.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:05 (seven years ago)

Rosalía might be surprisingly high

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:07 (seven years ago)

or unsurprisingly

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:07 (seven years ago)

Wherever Simmy lands, add 40 imaginary points from me.

Yeah, I think the poll runners should multiply Simmy’s score by 2.5 or 3 for a fairer result.

breastcrawl, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:09 (seven years ago)

give my 40 points to the Troops

ciderpress, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:11 (seven years ago)

Yes, Rosalía possibly top 5.

breastcrawl, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:11 (seven years ago)

was really hoping that George Clanton would make the list but 7 votes, that's a pretty high threshold

frogbs, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:13 (seven years ago)

One album revealed and I voted for it. Only 5 of my singles picks made it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if 15 or more of my album picks made the cut

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:27 (seven years ago)

the beths hive assemble

||||||||, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:27 (seven years ago)

hungies hive assemble

lowercase (eric), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:32 (seven years ago)

okay, sorry for the abortive start; let's get back to it.

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:42 (seven years ago)

that placement seems about right

bhad bundy (Simon H.), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:43 (seven years ago)

very underwhelming album

ufo, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:44 (seven years ago)

i feel fine

ciderpress, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:45 (seven years ago)

A lot of time for CB but this was a bit of a blandout

. (Michael B), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:45 (seven years ago)

i don't want to be too snarky but whoever made that #1 must have heard about 3 albums all year

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:45 (seven years ago)

ok that was too snarky

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:45 (seven years ago)

Marissa Lorusso: “Humanity Is Courtney Barnett's superpower.”

oh ffs

. (Michael B), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:48 (seven years ago)

wait, so being human makes you superhuman?

i mean, these days i kind of agree, but maybe we should think of a new word for "humane"

The Elvis of Nationalism and Amoral Patriotism (rushomancy), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:49 (seven years ago)

My mother-in-law is a fan, therefore dud.

pomenitul, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:57 (seven years ago)

The new Courtney Barnett was pretty but a bit of a letdown, more morose and less witty than her previous work

simmy simmy ya, simmy yam simmy yay (voodoo chili), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:58 (seven years ago)

did I know that pomenitul is married

imago, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:58 (seven years ago)

I want to like her more than I do. She's clearly had a big influence on the current class of indie favorites, but I just find her music kind of dull.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Monday, 4 February 2019 14:59 (seven years ago)

Now you do.

xp

pomenitul, Monday, 4 February 2019 14:59 (seven years ago)

Listening to this for first time now. Not terrible, but the She Makes War album scratched this particular itch for me last year.
