waht
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:47 (seven years ago)
ok that's amazing. obvs the Simmy album is really good. breastcrawl compared it to KING, which I thought was weird at first but mood-wise it makes a lot of sense
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:48 (seven years ago)
haha what's next, Sonini?
― ufo, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:48 (seven years ago)
lmao ok, so, sometimes an artist placing twice completely rules
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:49 (seven years ago)
KING comparison is a smart one. NB the discrepancy in votes on those two tracks; really an odd coincidence that they placed next to each other but there you are!
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:49 (seven years ago)
can a mod delete Simon's poll thread now
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:49 (seven years ago)
Good start to the day. Little Death was my number one. The whole Beths album is great, but it was that one that eventually became the standout. Agree that Not Running is another highlight. There's a clip of them playing Little Death at the RNZ Live Session on YouTube that I must have watched a hundred times. That could possibly win people round, especially those backing vocals in the last minute.
I didn't end up voting for anything by Beach House this year even though I did like the album. Definitely think of them more of an albums act than individual songs.
Keflavik was the last song I added to my ballot after it was highlighted late on, on the voting thread. It does make a nice companion to Neutron Dance as Matt said which I hope is still to come. I think I even had them next to each other on my list.
Didn't vote for Mooo but I can totally see the appeal. It's such a joyful song even if it is a bit long.
I wasn't aware of Simmy until going through the nominations playlist. Ubala and Ngiyesaba left more of an impression on me. Listening to Umahlalela right now and it's obvious I really need to check out her album.

simmy album my #1
love her so much
― nxd, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:52 (seven years ago)
definitely a healthy response
― resident hack (Simon H.), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:52 (seven years ago)
"Ubala" is the first track I voted for to place. I hadn't heard it before someone repped for it in the voting thread, and that certainly worked, as stuff like this is right up my alley. So beautiful and strong.
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:53 (seven years ago)
"Ubala" is just heavenly
― ufo, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:53 (seven years ago)
lovely songs, even though i still have the fart stench of mooo lingering in my nostrils
― my name is leee john, for we are many (NickB), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:55 (seven years ago)
Oh wait, I'm sorry, I actually voted for the other Simmy track that was nominated, as that one was better. But this is cool tool.
― Tuomas, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:55 (seven years ago)
Voted for the Simmy album but not for any of her tracks. Happy to see both of these in here!
― human and working on getting beer (longneck), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:56 (seven years ago)
perhaps not worth pointing out, but if ILM had an individual single to get behind with voting, Simmy could well have made the top three
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:57 (seven years ago)
orrrr an album *thinking face emoji*
― nxd, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 14:59 (seven years ago)
Doja Cat is nice but c'mon folks, this is straight outta the Turquoise Jeep playbook
― frogbs, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:01 (seven years ago)

Hatchie
― Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:03 (seven years ago)
The second of the two Simmy records isn't bad, best of the day so far even if it does sound like music you hear in an airport advising of the business possibilities in Shenzhen or Astana
― saer, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:04 (seven years ago)
sure
― my tweet portal is whack (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:04 (seven years ago)
oh good this one sounds like travis
― my name is leee john, for we are many (NickB), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:05 (seven years ago)
hatchie! one of my favorite eps of the year, was hard to select a single song from it
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:05 (seven years ago)
this song is like if disintegration were happy
― my tweet portal is whack (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:05 (seven years ago)
Note to songwriters: ripping off Chapterhouse will get you in the ILM top 40 in 2019
― imago, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:05 (seven years ago)
everything seems to have the same vibe today
I liked the Kasper Marott track a lot. Simmy is good but I agree with Saer, it sounds a little laser-focused in a commercial sense
― frogbs, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:05 (seven years ago)
the whole Hatchie EP was lovely if very dream-pop-by-the-numbers and she was surprisingly great live
― ufo, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:06 (seven years ago)
whoa 1992
― i stan corrected (morrisp), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:06 (seven years ago)
This really is Chapterhouse's Pearl except the third chord is less good
― imago, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:07 (seven years ago)
'sall good I get it!
― resident hack (Simon H.), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:07 (seven years ago)
this is definitely the chillest 77 to date that I can recall
― resident hack (Simon H.), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:08 (seven years ago)
i guess this can be accused of being too pastichey but i personally love to remember how much i love the sundays while listening to another artist
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:08 (seven years ago)
i don't care if it's too pastichey when it get everything right like this
― ufo, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:09 (seven years ago)
yep
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:09 (seven years ago)
Both the chillest and the most retro-facing 77 so far. It's like we yearn for simpler times
― imago, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:10 (seven years ago)
I went with Sugar & Spice, but happy to have any Hatchie track place. Whole ep was like a mini-Thriller.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:11 (seven years ago)
you see why we need more Andrew WK tracks in here
nearly everything today has sounded more or less the same
― frogbs, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:11 (seven years ago)
I voted for "You Wouldn't Like Me" instead but I love the Beths album.
― Locked in silent monologue, in silent scream (Sund4r), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:11 (seven years ago)
Judging by these results, most ILXors are mild-mannered, well-adjusted, reasonably content individuals whose emotional life is a flatline.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:13 (seven years ago)
yeah even the Doja song is soporific compared to Go To Town or Cookie Jar
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:13 (seven years ago)
is any rap gonna place this year (fucking dr*ke doesn't count)
― resident hack (Simon H.), Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:14 (seven years ago)
was gonna ask the same thing. only Drake and Cardi B is p sad
― rob, Wednesday, 30 January 2019 15:15 (seven years ago)
