here's an idea: every year we do a best of the 80s poll simultaneous to the EOY poll so y'all can get this shit out of your system

I'm also someone who preferred the previous Mr. Twin Sister album, but I'll have to give Salt another chance. I do think that "Keep on Mixin'" is a great lead-off track (love the polyrhythmic beat), and "Jaipur" sounded nice just now in the poll playlist.

so that would boot out like, 15 songs, give or take? what's the #92 result look like in terms of votes and such?

there'd definitely a strategic element to this, for example "Music is Worth Living For" was not my favorite song on the AWK album but I ranked it higher b/c I knew it was more likely to place than say, "Break the Curse"

I almost never have any tracks/albums overlap, but I made a couple exceptions this year

OK, this Talaboman track is great, I'm a sucker for things that should be boring but somehow never stop growing on me for 11 minutes (the repeated ping in this case)

I don't like loads of repetition of acts but I'd dislike popular tracks getting the boot more.

also, refusing to vote for tracks by an artist you've voted for in the albums poll is insanity imo

I use the lex/Alfred rule as a way to cut down my tracks ballot, but I always end up making a couple of exceptions

I have too much love to give to spend it all on under 48 or so artists

ya i vote for my favorite things and sometimes my favorite big things have favorite little things in them

i mean, i did tbf cut tropical fuck storm and daphne & celeste out of my tracks ballot because i'm more invested in the album as a whole, but there were some artists where i just could not avoid voting for them in both polls and to do so would have defied my year in music

Most of the artists I root for these days release tons of great singles but v few albums.

If only the highest song places and the others are disqualified I don't see how it resolves vote-splitting.
If there's no consensus that's it. Placing several songs is actually a good sign.
+1 at not voting for album tracks being madness.
Every time I come back to this thread and press on "skipping...", I automatically land on Andrew WK giving me thumbs up :s

I think the only way to artificially reduce track possibilities is through nominations: don't give 40 nominations per user, force them to be disciplined.

It doesn't seem to be on Youtube, can I listen to it anywhere without having to sign up for a streaming service?

I like that Hop Along song but voted for "Somewhere a Judge" instead.

I would definitely support curtailing nominations to max of 20 overall or fewer.

If an album has 5+ nominations, you could do a short poll to narrow it down to 1 or 2.

I’m opposed to this curating/curtailing of nominations. Let a thousand flowers bloom (or wither, whatever the case may be).

Reducing individual nominations won't reduce vote-splitting. It will make it a lot harder for people like me, who can't rely on anyone else to nominate things they like.
