jolene club remix (BradNelson), Tuesday, 22 January 2019 20:17 (seven years ago)

Oh yeah, that Kasper Marrot song is so good. I thought I had my singles list ready to go, but I might need to reconsider. Still haven't found room for that awesome Toni Braxton single either.

kitchen person, Tuesday, 22 January 2019 22:28 (seven years ago)

Voted! Such a relief to get it sent in. I spent way too long trying to get my tracks list done.

kitchen person, Tuesday, 22 January 2019 22:53 (seven years ago)

I'm a total sucker for fake new order

Buzzed through the tracks playlist, It seems like 50% afropop, which totally rules?

brimstead, Tuesday, 22 January 2019 22:53 (seven years ago)

checks out

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Tuesday, 22 January 2019 23:16 (seven years ago)

I've voted, quite surprised by what ended up topping my albums ballot but there were four or five in contention with no frontrunner.

― Matt DC, Tuesday, 22 January 2019 19:56 (three hours ago) Permalink

this was me too, super strong year with no clear frontrunner.

harvey wall/barrier (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 22 January 2019 23:29 (seven years ago)

the Kasper Marrot track is great!

Dan S, Tuesday, 22 January 2019 23:48 (seven years ago)

ahhh just putting my ballot together now and somehow we collectively neglected to nominate the Internet's album

monotony, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 02:11 (seven years ago)

deeply regret forgetting Britten's theme for Succession as a track nom; hoping he wins an Oscar for Beale Street

Guided by Voices – That’s Good

this track is awesome, could totally be a "soft bulletin" outtake

budo jeru, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 19:11 (seven years ago)

That's a terrible sales pitch.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 19:39 (seven years ago)

i'm not trying to sell anything !

it just came on as i was listening playlist and that's what the track reminded me of. why is that terrible

budo jeru, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 19:52 (seven years ago)

E Ruscha V & Woo - Woo Are You

amazing, thanks to whoever nominated this !

budo jeru, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 20:35 (seven years ago)

The E Ruscha album is really good too, been chilling out with it a lot lately.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Wednesday, 23 January 2019 20:40 (seven years ago)

oh man i've just started listening my body is a-buzz

budo jeru, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 20:42 (seven years ago)

playing "osiris" by maisha on bandcamp and "hidden beauties" by ANNA on spotify. wild

budo jeru, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 22:07 (seven years ago)

i should've done this sooner if i were actually gonna get anyone to vote for these, but..

i love the suba album, 'wayang,' which is for if you want tribal drums and kosmische synth to coax you into an out of body experience

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClwaqvT3OWw

and on the same label, geins't naït and laurent petitgand's 'make dogs sing' which is sort of a cozy rainy day soundtrack to falling into a k-hole

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNMAOZmmE6g

i also nominated the job sifre EP het bestaan as an album b/c it's long enough to be a mini LP and every track is great. the one that got me obsessed with job sifre (and his amazing mix series on red light radio) is 'at least we try,' a long, churning, nasty thing that becomes quite beautiful by the end, with a swaying dub bassline and studio-esque melody

suba sounds good, thanks for posting (dipping into the other two rn)

Mother of Mars - Hera In The Valley

wowwwwwwwww

budo jeru, Wednesday, 23 January 2019 23:22 (seven years ago)

seandalai, I submitted two ballots - the first has my correct tracks ballot, the 2nd my correct albums ballot. Is that too complicated to merge? Should I submit a third that has both correct?

octobeard, Thursday, 24 January 2019 00:38 (seven years ago)

I did it, finally!

emil.y, Thursday, 24 January 2019 21:37 (seven years ago)

sent!

devvvine, Thursday, 24 January 2019 21:44 (seven years ago)

@Tuomas, beard papa: I've caught up and removed your first ballots
@octobeard: Easiest if you can submit again

seandalai, Thursday, 24 January 2019 22:04 (seven years ago)

In!

Some last-minute repping for a very late 2018 release (mid-December):

Pop d'n'b!

Twelves, Thursday, 24 January 2019 22:11 (seven years ago)

Oh yeah, that's a banger! Hadn't heard about it before scanning through the nomination list, when I noticed Shy FX there, so of course I had to vote for it. Junglist massive 4eva!

Tuomas, Thursday, 24 January 2019 22:23 (seven years ago)

Oh, I meant to apologise as well - I massively over-nominated in the albums field and ended up shifting a few votes over to the tracks, so I think I had about four write-ins. I actually don't really mind if they don't get counted, but as I said before, this list is my only EoY list, so I try to make it be what I actually want to remember from the year.

groovypanda, Friday, 25 January 2019 19:24 (seven years ago)

Yes on Monday!

✖✖✖ (Moka), Friday, 25 January 2019 20:25 (seven years ago)

I am on deck to make the singles happen, starting Monday. I've seen the early returns and they are SHOCKING; vote now or you don't get to complain when we start posting things you SIMPLY CANNOT BELIEVE (pollsters hate this ONE SIMPLE SONG)

Fuck the NRA (ulysses), Friday, 25 January 2019 20:27 (seven years ago)

I'm honestly drawing a blank on what song from 2018 could simultaneously be really hated and yet also do really well. God's Plan? Lift Yourself? Baby Shark? This is America?

MarkoP, Friday, 25 January 2019 20:54 (seven years ago)

baby shark and moo are two i'm definitely rooting against in vain

imago, Friday, 25 January 2019 21:00 (seven years ago)

the presence of non-song "this is america" would be a bummer

jolene club remix (BradNelson), Friday, 25 January 2019 21:08 (seven years ago)

voted! just in time.

There were quite a few things I was surprised weren't nominated (I was travelling during the noms period so didn't get around to it) but by the same token narrowing each list down to 25 selections still broke my heart.

From these: one I've voted for, one I wouldn't mind seeing crop up, one I can't fucking stand, one I've never knowingly heard.

My suggestion for a joke top 10 entry is Peach Scone.

mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 25 January 2019 21:29 (seven years ago)

I can confirm the results are bonkers, also there’s a huge song that I thought was a top 20 contender and it is not even in the top 77.
