Thank you! NTS is both a blessing and a curse: there's just too much good music and shows on there.
― Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 22 January 2019 17:10 (seven years ago)
radio jiro is consistently great imo but i haven't quite worked that far back in the archives yet
― my name is leee john, for we are many (NickB), Tuesday, 22 January 2019 17:23 (seven years ago)
Only quip with the mixtapes is that it doesn't give you a tracklist. Is that right, or am I not searching right?
― Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 22 January 2019 17:26 (seven years ago)
really digging this ambient/mellow Luke Mele show from Jan. 23rd
― sleeve, Saturday, 26 January 2019 18:04 (seven years ago)
Is there a proper way to see a live updated tracklist of NTS1/NTS2, as it's being played?
― Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 18 February 2019 10:40 (seven years ago)
no but there's always IDs in the chat
― goats eat grandma (NickB), Monday, 18 February 2019 10:45 (seven years ago)
I usually avoid chatrooms like the plague but this one pays off. Thanks Nick!
― Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 18 February 2019 10:57 (seven years ago)
on some shows the DJ will respond in the chat, other shows they'll post the setlist in the chat while the show is going out
― goats eat grandma (NickB), Monday, 18 February 2019 11:03 (seven years ago)
As much as I listen to NTS, somehow I've never found the chat!
― change display name (Jordan), Monday, 18 February 2019 16:02 (seven years ago)
Had no idea there was a chat. The NTS digital presence looks great, and looks like it should be easy to navigate, but it isn't at all. Fortunately, the self-selected audience doesn't mind digging around and being baffled. Am I on Mixcloud? Will this archived set show a playlist? What happens when i click on a new show while one is playing? It seems different each time, but the delight of the programming outweighs frustration.
― eva logorrhea (bendy), Monday, 18 February 2019 16:16 (seven years ago)
Ah I had that for a short while, but you'll get used to these things quickly. I kind of like having to put in *some* effort as a listener to find your way around idk. Never knew about the cht either, but that's because it's the last thing I'd look for. Proves useful for track id's though!
― Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 18 February 2019 16:18 (seven years ago)
chat gets pretty lively at times, mostly during uk mornings (charlie bones show), also for ruf dug and moxie and flo and a few other afternoon things. those djs do tend to talk back to the chat a lot, so sometimes stuff makes more sense if you're in there. it's mostly nonsense but it's quite funny sometimes
― goats eat grandma (NickB), Monday, 18 February 2019 16:29 (seven years ago)
i listen to charlie bones early morning at the gym and then entertain myself at work by scrolling way back into the chat to get all the track ids i missed.

As part of the Warp Records takeover on NTS Radio, Brian Eno has teamed up with Extinction Rebellion to create an hour long piece which will be broadcast on Sunday June 23rd at 16.00 BST - https://nts.live/wxaxrxp
― Ambient Police (sleeve), Thursday, 20 June 2019 18:00 (six years ago)
Wishing for a round-up review of all the Warp shows, or an old-school liveblog.

The Mixcloud archives are going up now. There still isn't a great way to download & listen offline, is there (aside from 'Mixcloud Select')?
― change display name (Jordan), Monday, 24 June 2019 17:00 (six years ago)
There are very easy paste-and-save services but you’ve still got 40kbps files at the end
― quelle sprocket damage (sic), Monday, 24 June 2019 19:02 (six years ago)
anyone else now lost the ability to pause and rewind shows and getting a message about subscribing to mixcloud premium instead?
― the creator has a mazda van (NickB), Tuesday, 1 October 2019 15:34 (six years ago)
mixcloud premium is the worst
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 1 October 2019 15:51 (six years ago)
I've never been able to rewind on mixcloud (free, in the US), can at least pause though.
― change display name (Jordan), Tuesday, 1 October 2019 16:03 (six years ago)
TBH I kind of wish that NTS would join that new "Mixcloud Select" thing so that we can get offline access via the Mixcloud app. I'd pay a fiver a month for that, given how extensive the NTS archive is.
I find it baffling that Mixcloud Premium doesn't include offline access, which is pretty much the one thing they could offer that I'd feel incentivised to pay for.
― bamboohouses, Wednesday, 2 October 2019 11:07 (six years ago)
I mightconsider premium if they improved their app which is very glitchy, at least for me. I'll really miss the ability to scroll through NTS shows uninhibited.
― millmeister, Wednesday, 2 October 2019 13:54 (six years ago)
this kinda sucks, oh well. I usually put them on and just listen through anyway
― sleeve, Wednesday, 2 October 2019 13:55 (six years ago)
mixcloud app (via the nts app) has always been super clunky, it flakes out all the time
― marcos, Thursday, 3 October 2019 20:43 (six years ago)
i've actually been digging the infinite mixtapes a little, poolside cracks me up i love it
― marcos, Thursday, 3 October 2019 20:44 (six years ago)

would prefer if they did a pledge drive, but signed up anyway
― lukas, Thursday, 2 July 2020 20:54 (five years ago)
i think a pledge drive is something most people in the UK / Europe are not very familiar with.
― stirmonster, Thursday, 2 July 2020 22:38 (five years ago)
I just love the idea of NTS residents standing by to take my call, though
― lukas, Thursday, 2 July 2020 22:41 (five years ago)
the funding of nts has always been a mystery to me! will be happy to sign up to this though - probably listen to about 60-70 hours of nts per month, so it's the least i could do
