this is right on the edge but the truth, the bonus album he tacked onto crystal ball, is at the very least close to great

after that pretty much nothing though 3121 has a lot going for it

gold experience and the love symbol album are two of his absolute greatest but '95 and '92 both feel too old for the question you're asking

was merely pointing out that a song in 7 would seem by its very nature to disqualify it from accusations of being "bluesy garbage," which in this context I take to mean stock, trite, and predictable, but it's OK, I realize not everybody knows what they're talking about

it has a blues feel and there are tons of blues songs with dropped beats

I can't think of many blues tunes that keep a regular 7 feel tbf; also the obvious use of loops of 'found' samples is pretty distinct for the time. It's a long way from generic blues-rock.xp

Yeah if I had to choose between 'falsely proclaiming Pink Floyd to be my favourite band' or 'having them be pulled apart by wolves' then I'd stan for them and feed the wolves another more deserving band

I like every pink floyd album except dark side of the moon

I'm not a big fan by any stretch but I don't really hear Dark Side as that different from their other albums of that time.

Wish You Were Here > Meddle > Animals > Dark Side of the Moon > the live half of Ummagumma > The Wall > a bunch of shit I never need to hear again as long as I live > the even worse shit they did before they wised up and punted Syd Barrett

Dark Side is the last one that I really dig.

I'm not a big fan of it but's better than "The Wall", forcryingoutloud.

every person I've ever known who is huge Floyd fan is dismissive of Dark Side. every person I've ever know who isn't huge Floyd fan loves Dark Side, maybe likes a bit other Floyd stuff to lesser degree, and can't stand most of the rest.

That doesn't mean shit. Why should a fan know better about the best album than the others? Obviously fans tend to like the more far-out stuff just to differentiate themselves from the lot.

what do you mean by "doesn't mean shit"? I take it to mean something along the lines of what you said. Partly might be to "differentiate themselves", but I think some people just like 25 minute psych jams more than the like the tighter, more focused stuff on Dark Side.

Xp Isn't fandom also about delusion? I do not think that a fan is the most objective person to judge the output of the band he/she is fan of. Like the band itself actually. They usually have no clue which is their best work. If you ask them usually it is their last album, obviously also for promo reasons.

I thought you implied fans are better "judges".

Granny and Alex are both right. YES, serious Floydians are generally gonna prefer something more obscure. YES, casual listeners are generally going to embrace what is popular and familiar.

All of this is human and normal and good.

There's no conflict between these assertions, as far as I can see.
