For a messageboard trying to list all the women over 35 who put out records this year, you sure are finding it easy to avoid mentioning Daphne & Celeste

The Brandi Carlisle album is exactly the kind of thing that deserves multiple Grammy nominations (IMO) — terrific songwriting, remarkable performances (I love her singing), excellent production... all in a very “accessible”/“popular” (in the best possibly sense) style.

yeah when I reviewed it for the 'Fork I got more positive email than anything I've written in years. I didn't think anyone still did that sort of thing, until I realized 35+ men and women are more likely to write emails.

Amanda Shires made The Atlantic's list too. So did Marianne Faithful and um, Metallica...

xp i saw him perform with people from that ensemble a few weeks ago in chicago, it really is a special record—so many little melodies and rhythms on so many tracks! cluttered in the way i love

It's not groundbreaking but I can listen to the chorus of "All the Stars" all day, I also like Kendrick when he's not trying too hard to rip the mike, and the video deserves a mention (where is he again ? SA ? Kenya ?). For me it's the right kind of epic that goes into my playlist, when so many other songs in those lists sound dull or pompous to me (something like Geyser for example). But I know nothing, I'm not building a track list for this year (not that I ever do).
