it's "love it if we made it" at #1. i'm delighted by that, i'd half suspected it might get there since they surely weren't going to go for "this is america" like everyone else

also fantastic to see "malamente" at #3!

i'm finding the pitchfork list quite agreeable this year for the most part, but i've also heard nearly every track on there so there's not the thrill of finding gems i'd missed, unfortunately

weirdest thing about the pitchfork list is that the highest rated track from sweetener was the title track!?!?

The Pitchfork tracks list always annoys me, even though I like most of what's on it, it always seems so, I don't know, curated just behind the curve. Like of course they'll relegate This Is America to the b-leagues, of course there will be carefully chosen examples of current trends in there, but it's all so fucking polite and tasteful, nothing "problematic", nothing to argue about at all in fact. It seems to be all about what's in, not about what people love.

Koze has been indie-friendly for years, but 'Itgehane' is this year's 'Inspector Norse', it's just been everywhere.

the pitchfork list doesn't reflect a reality i recognize esp at it pertains to pop, rap and R&b but that's been the case for several years now... it's a good year to pick a crazy no 1 tho
