decent list
has boo’d up topped any tracks lists yet ? p undeniable
― single bed mentality (||||||||), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 15:57 (seven years ago)
“High Horse” isn’t even the best song on that (somewhat overrated, in my esteemed and respected opinion) album... I heard it in the supermarket the other day, it fit right in.
― underqualified backing vocalist (morrisp), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:10 (seven years ago)
(And I don’t usually do “overrated,” but we are literally talking about ratings/rankings here; so I’ll allow it)
― underqualified backing vocalist (morrisp), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:12 (seven years ago)
Boo’d Up is probably hurt by the fact it came out in early 2017
I don’t actually think the NPR list is quite as boring as I expected tbh... aside from the awful number one it’s somehow the only list I’ve seen with “drip too hard” on it so far like what
Someone on Twitter pointed out how weird it is they seem to have completely ignored The Internet’s album on their albums list, like that’s tailor made for npr
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:12 (seven years ago)
High horse is awesome, not my personal fav on the album exactly but cmon
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:13 (seven years ago)
Npr list also had King’s dead... Troye Sivan .... phonte, Doja cat... there’s definitely some corny selections — it is NPR and it’s impossible to forgive that number one — but overall could be way worse
― ILX’s bad boy (D-40), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:16 (seven years ago)
some good things in here imo...

i actually really liked the npr songs and albums lists this year, unexpected
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:31 (seven years ago)
i'm sure i'll be looking through that vinyl factory list, loving everything and not buying anything because $
― macropuente (map), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:32 (seven years ago)
would've preferred if lucy had been no. 1 on the songs list of course, i'm with everyone who thinks "this is america" is a video, not a song xp

dengue dengue dengue album rules
― nxd, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:33 (seven years ago)

― macropuente (map), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:33 (seven years ago)

had never heard of Hatis Noit before, but that one's pretty nice
― my name is leee john, for we are many (NickB), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:38 (seven years ago)
Compared to last year's tail-end scramble, I did a better job of keeping up with new releases in 2018, but I still feel overwhelmed whenever I see a new list come out. FOMO's a bitch.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 16:40 (seven years ago)
Did not expect to see 'Pat Earrings' (a line that will make zero sense to anyone outside the UK) on that FACT list.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:00 (seven years ago)
yeah cover of that is hilarious

article actually lists it as 'pet earrings', think it's by a us writer?

xp amazing
― nxd, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:09 (seven years ago)
It's been a jam of mine all year but the rapping is probably the worst thing about it.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:10 (seven years ago)
beautiful cover.
― calzino, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:12 (seven years ago)
boo’d up might have come out in 2017 but it’s def a 2018 track. D-40 probably right tho
funny how these things work. culture II feels like it came out an age ago. might as well have been a 2017 record
― single bed mentality (||||||||), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:32 (seven years ago)
D-40 has been going down this pedantic wormhole since, like, "Still Tippin'." Ignore.

Complex: "But Earl treats the lo-fi nature of the process in the same way that Guided by Voices did in their heyday"
lol was not expecting that one
― rob, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:46 (seven years ago)
Complex list is decent but the ordering is bonkers to me.
Also, am I alone in thinking that the Tierra Whack album seems to be getting more shine than it deserves? Maybe I'll revisit it today but I didn't really like it much when I first listened.
― husked, tonal wails (irrational), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:49 (seven years ago)
I agree. As a calling-card EP it shows a lot of promise, but aoty is a big stretch
― rob, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:51 (seven years ago)
Vinyl Factory list is awesome. Love their taste.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:51 (seven years ago)
TW probably my favourite rap album of the year tbf
― imago, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 17:55 (seven years ago)
yours, a committed and knowledgeable rap fan
Glad to see the Yob record place so low on the Noisey list. Yob sucks, and I don't understand why so many critics worship them. Sure, the dude almost died and that's a good feature hook, but it doesn't make their music interesting.― grawlix (unperson), Wednesday, December 5, 2018 5:59 AM (three hours ago)

Yob sucks, and I don't understand why so many critics worship them
it's unperson, you can replace "yob" in this construction with like... most bands
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 18:01 (seven years ago)
i don't love yob but i respect what they're doing
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 18:02 (seven years ago)
who da fuq is yob
― single bed mentality (||||||||), Wednesday, 5 December 2018 18:04 (seven years ago)
xxp ok, fine, but in this particular case that is an laughably terrible opinion.
― alpine static, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 18:04 (seven years ago)
