Is that the one that starts (freakily enough) with They Came From The Stars (I Saw Them)?
I was listening to that yesterday, and apart from that, it made me very happy indeed.
― If My Body's A Club You're My Disco Ball (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 10:55 (seventeen years ago)
It starts with Fleet Foxes, but They Came From The Stars appear early on.
My 10 track Aeroplane primer, excluding the ones you've already heard, would probably include:
Aeroplane feat. Kathy Diamond - WhispersFriendly Fires - Paris (Aeroplane Remix feat. Au Revoir Simone)Aeroplane - CaramellasShortwave Set - Now Til 69 (Aeroplane Remix)Aeroplane - Pacific Air RaceDavid Rubato - Circuit (Aeroplane Remix)Allez Allez - Allez Allez (Aeroplane Remix)Cobra Dukes - Airtight (Aeroplane Remix)Lindstrom & Solale - Baby I Can't Stop (Aeroplane Remix)MGMT - Electric Feel (Aeroplane Remix)
The first three on that list being absolutely essential. As is this compilation, the vast majority of which is in the same vein.
― Tits Bramble (Matt DC), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 10:59 (seventeen years ago)

― If My Body's A Club You're My Disco Ball (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 11:08 (seventeen years ago)
saw them in Glasgow on Saturday. Audience going mental for Friendly Fires was great, and ending on William's Blood was perfect. Highly recommended.
― The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 11:14 (seventeen years ago)
They're playing at Loop Festival. Between them and Fever Ray and Telepathe and The Field and everything else, it's looking better and better.
― If My Body's A Club You're My Disco Ball (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 11:19 (seventeen years ago)
dunno if anyone has posted this mix, but i have been playing it pretty regularly and generally having freakouts while running on the treadmill, just sayin

dope mix imho
― autogucci cru (deej), Friday, 5 June 2009 23:21 (seventeen years ago)
The flow of remixes appears to have dried up since the start of this thread :(
― Matt DC, Friday, 5 June 2009 23:35 (seventeen years ago)
recording an album syndrome.
Henrik Schwarz has said he's gonna stop making remixes for a while because he keeps on squandering ideas he'd otherwise save for his album and for 12 inches.
― Tim F, Saturday, 6 June 2009 03:12 (seventeen years ago)
they're (or "they"'re) coming back to Australia in September btw Tim, playing Parklife with Little Boots, Junior Boys, Erol Alkan, Tiga, Empire Of The Sun, Lady Sov, La Roux, Glimmers, VonStroke etc.
― other instrument (sic), Saturday, 6 June 2009 07:01 (seventeen years ago)
album? WANT WANT WANT
cannot stop playing that Grace Jones remix. It's kind of become my default music for the summer.
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Saturday, 6 June 2009 08:36 (seventeen years ago)
Also, ha ha, forgot Erol was playing Parklife. Tim F, pls to pinch him in the arse and say it's from me. ;-)

can somebody send these guys the pitbull single?
― let free dom ring (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 10 June 2009 00:17 (seventeen years ago)
desperate for new aeroplane material, i decided to search for tracks on their charts from past months. i discovered some gems like:
das glow - i wanna wake up with youthe faint - Battlehymn For Children (Tensnake DUB Remix)
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 12 June 2009 02:06 (seventeen years ago)
when Tensnake is on he is ON; those remixes of Sally Shapiro and Junior Boys are so damn killer. His own productions, not so much
― guammls (QE II), Friday, 12 June 2009 23:59 (seventeen years ago)
Previous post totally 100% OTM. Except Tavira is excellent as well.
I think we should all agree not to bump this thread until something new turns up, or there's news of an album. Every time I see it in New Answers I get excited and then swiftly disappointed.
Or we could just start a new thread as soon as the album is announced.

― ❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉Plaxico❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉ (I know, right?), Saturday, 13 June 2009 00:32 (seventeen years ago)
tensnake congolal is as good as any of their remixes
― eduardo altamonte (jergins), Saturday, 13 June 2009 00:34 (seventeen years ago)
k ftr, i haven't heard everything he has produced, just around 7 tracks, none of which did anything for me. thanks for the suggestions; i knew there had to be more awesomeness out there
― guammls (QE II), Saturday, 13 June 2009 01:07 (seventeen years ago)
Tavira is his best work in my book.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Saturday, 13 June 2009 01:17 (seventeen years ago)
tensnake's new one- in the end (i want to cry)- is fuckin great if you ask me. also every track on the 'keep believin' ep is way solid, esp "tavira"
― psychgawsple, Saturday, 13 June 2009 01:29 (seventeen years ago)
and "congolal" is a one of my all-time favorite nu-balearic tunes
― psychgawsple, Saturday, 13 June 2009 01:32 (seventeen years ago)
"Tavira" is pretty astonishing; it's also a track that seems purpose-built for use in Aeroplane sets.
I also loved Tensnake's "Around The House" from way back when, though that was in a different style to his current stuff.
― Tim F, Saturday, 13 June 2009 01:33 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, i thought "around the house" was pretty nice but had none of that wide-eyed euphoria that's all over those two remixes. i'll be checking out those tracks yall mentioned.
― guammls (QE II), Saturday, 13 June 2009 02:38 (seventeen years ago)
ok am late on this but that mixmag mix, slaying meee
so upset i will prob be missing them in aus - i missed them the last time they were here as well.
― Roz, Saturday, 13 June 2009 18:18 (seventeen years ago)
Roz, u haven't been on this thread before now? I feel like this stuff is so up your alley, it's a travesty nobody brought it to your attention before now.
― ❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉Plaxico❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉❉ (I know, right?), Sunday, 14 June 2009 03:25 (seventeen years ago)
no no i love aeroplane - i just haven't been on ilm much the past few months and missed out on all the great mixes.
you're right though, this shiz is totally made for me :)
― Roz, Sunday, 14 June 2009 03:52 (seventeen years ago)
You and me, both!
They've got that OOOOOOOH SOO SMOOOOOOOTH phasey keyboard sound I haven't heard since Duran Duran. They make me want to sit on a yacht in a white bikini and bird of paradise makeup and sip odd pink cocktails. soooo good.
(though have discovered: it's their original mix of Kilometre that makes me melt, not the Italo 84 mix)
Though I keep forgetting that song has an orgasm in it - I keep getting the juju eyes from people when I dj coz I keep playing orgasm songs without realising it. (I think I had two of them last night. oops.)
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 14 June 2009 07:16 (seventeen years ago)
do you mean that there's 2 versions of their remix for kilometer??
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 14 June 2009 08:01 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, I thought they were the same thing until I accidentally downloaded the wrong one!
I don't actually know what the difference is apart from 4 seconds longer. In fact, listening to them note for note next to one another... I think there's just slightly more step delay on the non-Italo one and the EQ is slightly different? I'm not even trusting my ears at this point. Maybe they're the same and it's entirely psychological that I view the non-Italo one as more "swhirly" and less "crisp"
no idea.
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 14 June 2009 12:31 (seventeen years ago)
http://www.discogs.com/Sebastien-Tellier-Kilometer/release/1686480
seems like its probably psychological since unless aeroplane released a bootleg of the non-'italo 84' version, this is all youve got...
― rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Sunday, 14 June 2009 13:14 (seventeen years ago)
I got them both off iTunes, so they're both perfectly legal. Huh. A mystery!
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 14 June 2009 13:17 (seventeen years ago)
i was driving the other day with nothing to listen to, threw in an old mix cd i made a year and a half ago, and their fool for love remix came on. i can't remember if it's gotten much hype on here, but it's so great. much more in style with what they were coming out with originally
― space cowboy (san frandisco), Wednesday, 17 June 2009 22:21 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, that remix seems underrated.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 17 June 2009 23:55 (seventeen years ago)
the das pop rmx was the first thing of theirs that i heard and i still rate it as one of the best things they've done - love those stupid huge italo keyboards

― psychgawsple, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:36 (seventeen years ago)
some of those remixes had better contain nothing of the originals :/
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:36 (seventeen years ago)
also it's mixed! which the title sorta led me to not expect
― psychgawsple, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:41 (seventeen years ago)
xpost- only original i've heard is fever ray, but ya still there are divisive indie-electro-pop vocals all over this thing
― psychgawsple, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:49 (seventeen years ago)
fever ray is the one which is other way round - love the og but kinda don't want to hear another rex the dog remix in 2009 - you just know it's gonna be so formulaic
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 24 June 2009 09:52 (seventeen years ago)
aeroplane has always been remixers of mediocre or worse songs. see: "paris", "circuit", "now til 69", "fool for love". hell, almost all of the songs that got remixed by them are mediocre!
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 10:58 (seventeen years ago)
But that's the thing - they take mediocre, boring songs and make them AMAZING.
I don't think I'd want to hear them tackle a song that was already good.
― Violent In Design (Masonic Boom), Wednesday, 24 June 2009 11:01 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, that's also my point. it's a reply for lex's statement: "some of those remixes had better contain nothing of the originals :/"
