"i know the truth is in between the first and fortieth drink" is prob my favorite lyric she's ever written, a stark sudden depiction of alcoholism in a song that i can't otherwise make heads or tails of

three of the best songs ever made in a row, none of which made my ballot lol

personally "putting the damage on" is wayyyy too tied to my first relationship and being 15 and feeling bad all of the time and at this point it feels like the song belongs to a different person than who i am now. still devastated every time i hear the chorus or "it's just your ghost passing through / and... now... i'm... quite... sure"

Putting the Damage On has a really great vocal performance and I love the horn arrangement

I found Blood Roses genuinely disturbing when I first heard it. Still shocking even now. I love it though.

it's a shame she replaced Honey for The Wrong Band which is easily the worst track on Under the Pink

Tori influenced my writing to an incredible degree. When she says Ed is watching my every move, that is such an abstract lyricism - perhaps it is Ed the Horse, but Tori always wrote lyrics that allowed one to transpose themselves onto them. Even if she did not give background to these lyrics, she respects the intelligence of the listener to take away their own meaning (much like Lynch). I am grateful she exists and her music changed my life
