Fans of the Foo fighters, Kings of Leon or Natasha Bedingfield will soon be able to listen to their music through the social music site Last.fm.

The service, bought in May for $280m (£140m) by CBS Corporation, has signed a deal with the Sony BMG record label

The software also tracks what users play on their PC or MP3 player to make recommendations.

Thomas Hesse of Sony BMG said this was key in its decision to partner with the UK firm.

"The Last.fm streaming service will give our established artists a platform through which they can reach new audiences, and its unique recommendation system will provide our emerging artists with an important opportunity to build their fan base," he said.

I wont be subscribing to listen to their radio anymore if shite like that is going to appear in recommendation radio or indeed personal radio.

Anything "old" you listened to from pre-mp3 days does tend to lose out on Last FM statwise.
Nirvana , Janes Addiction or Smashing Pumpkins would likely top mine then.

I remember when Last FM was broke that time, I was SUPER compatability with Grimly for a while.

It went down to "high" and now it's only "medium".

that's 'cos of a) me listening to a lot of depeche mode and b) your -- what was it? -- officially "freaky" eclecticism. heheheheh :)

If you're using the new WINAMP you may notice that some tracks aren't scrobbling. For some people 9/10 tracks wont scrobble. So if you have this problem go here and get the plug in to sort it

LastGraph. Surprisingly over-powered application that maps your listening over time on a graph. I set it to track all three years' of mine and it took about five minutes and produced a 5.5MB PDF. You can zoom in and see when you were splurging on a particular artist.
