Just listened to the new track... it definitely recalls classic Aphex, and has a propulsion that his other recent stuff has lacked (it’s no “Windowlicker,” though?)My son heard it and made me replay the whole thing again while he watched the video, so maybe that’s something...

I wish he would either evolve rhythmically or, yeah, make more Drukqs-esque electro-acoustic music.

I mean it's not a wild leap or anything but he is doing new stuff here, the second half of the first section (of the video) is more rhythmically interesting than anything on Syro

Sounded pretty aphex by numbers to me on the first listen, video was great but I may never watch it again. Notable for the appearance at 1:50 and 4:00 of the Michael Faraday monument at Elephant and Castle, near where he used to live.

Thanks, I had forgotten about that already (thought maybe it was part of the dump)
True there is that crazy triplet-based shit, but it has the same busy, skittery effect.
For someone who is supposedly so experimental with gear I wonder if he is intentionally going back to some of his classic sounds here (those pads). Or...I read this interview with Taylor Deupree recently where he says that his friends make fun of him for buying new synths all the time and then making the same sound with each one, I wonder if that's what RDJ does.

i think this is what the text says at the beginning?
this track's called collapse by the waycos when the bass hit kicks inand the tempo starts slowing down,it's like a collapse of sorts :)i'm gathering visuals references at the mois ther any other point cloud or other references you like i should looknope don't think so.. I still love ascii visuals also..surprised it never got used more but maybe it's cause I don't get out muchsure... i'll look into doin 3d ascii point-cloud cross over.maybe when you get up close to the point cloud it looks more like ascii...yeah i see your point with midibut you could just edit tight to the beat manually anyhow can't you?

Sorry for the spam but this should be of interest to keen AFX watchers.
I've just published a Weirdcore interview in which he talks about the T69 Collapse video in depth and confirms other films are on their way, maybe even a VR version. And much other tittle tattle besides.
Does RDJ read the YouTube comments? "Big time."
― Doran, Saturday, 18 August 2018 09:57 (five years ago) link
good interview, this at the beginning though:
thinking is innately, reliably visual. If I asked you to think of your favourite song or some music, it would, generally speaking, be a challenge. It's hard to manifest sound alone in one's thoughts without some manner of visual accompaniment. That’s because the ‘language’ employed by the human brain is primarily one of images. Even if we’re engaging in dense verbal cognition such as preparing a speech, vivid pictures act as the unbidden chaperone of all thought.
may be true for the author, far from true for everyone. there is a thread on it somewhere...
