Fragile item. Leaves are loose and may shift around. Could attempt fixing leaves with a spray adhesive at buyers request.

did it come with an epilepsy warning?
― koogs, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 14:23 (seven years ago)
nice though. it's like 1000 videos in one. like a demoscene demo but with better music.
― koogs, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 14:28 (seven years ago)
Whoa that’s so cool!
Great track too
― Ross, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 14:31 (seven years ago)
amazing video, think it comes with an epilepsy warning yeh
reminds me of the vid to holly herndon "chorus"
― nxd, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 14:32 (seven years ago)
(they nixed the planned adult swim showing in amaerica today because it failed the epilepsy test)
― koogs, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 14:33 (seven years ago)
well I'm gonna go puke now

haha wow you weren't kidding!
― sleeve, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 15:11 (seven years ago)
yea this was my first thought as well, the way every single movement in the music is reflected in the video is insane. if I watched this in VR I'd probably have a stroke
― frogbs, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 15:20 (seven years ago)
this track is great but also very much more of the same
― the masseduction of lauryn hill (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 15:31 (seven years ago)
especially love the first minute or so of the video, with all the descending text. although i ended up pausing the video about a dozen times to read certain frames!
at the same time...
― the masseduction of lauryn hill (Stevie D(eux)),
on first listen, i kind of agree. it would fit in on any number of his earlier releases, seamlessly. but that's not really a criticism in itself - if anything it kind of speaks to the mindblowing futurism of his 90s music. and if he released selected ambient works vol 3, and it sounded just like 2 (or 1) i would be absolutely thrilled. i think the bigger problem (personally speaking) is i'm not sure what place this kind of frenetic music has in my life anymore, to be honest. it's not you, rdj, it's me.
― Karl Malone, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 15:43 (seven years ago)
i still go back to polynomial c - ON - Xtal and the ambient ones more than any of his newer music
it is nice he still puts out music but yeah cannot say i have been crazy about anything since DRUKQS
― Ross, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 15:44 (seven years ago)

Finally got through here as well. I felt a little silly; the regular black vinyl pressing is fine, but...not shiney ;_;
― You guys are caterpillar (Telephone thing), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 19:40 (seven years ago)
stevie otm so I don't know what to think of this. the majority of latter day aphex really bores me but this track and the video work really well
― Scritti Vanilli - The Word Girl You Know It's True (dog latin), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 20:18 (seven years ago)
i liked cheetah, it was pretty mellow
― brimstead, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 20:24 (seven years ago)
this feels old-fashioned. i know he's not interested in fashion, but still.
― Britain's Sexiest Cow (jed_), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 21:14 (seven years ago)
Track is just OK, boilerplate Aphex, I was hoping that by this point he'd be doing something a bit different, after the long break he had I thought maybe he'd return with an LP of piano music like the tracks on Drukqs, but happy enough to have him around putting stuff out even if he isn't quite at his peak anymore. Cheetah was nice enough.
The video is fucking great though, it's not like it has any completely new ideas, but I've not seen gants graf x cyriak before and it just works, really looks like something that should exist in 2018.
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 21:30 (seven years ago)
oh really? i thought that looked old-hat as well. fwiw, i don't think RDJ is old-hat!
― Britain's Sexiest Cow (jed_), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 21:36 (seven years ago)
definitely seems to be keeping up with the OPNs and James Ferraros of the world there
tbh I think his new stuff is probably the most technically challenging and complex work he's ever done, it just doesn't really engage me like his previous work does. Syro was definitely one of those albums I thought was pretty rad on release but never really wanted to hear again after the first couple months. Then again drukqs was like that and I love that album now so who knows
― frogbs, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 21:38 (seven years ago)
it is definitely super technical but also it sounds like yet another refinement of a sound that started as far back as Druqks. At this point i can play a 'typical Aphex tune' in my head - detuned sinewaves, squelchy acidy noises and drilly rhythms bouncing all over the place, and that's sort of what he does now
― Scritti Vanilli - The Word Girl You Know It's True (dog latin), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 21:54 (seven years ago)
its almost like you could write a program to just spit 'em out
― frogbs, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 21:56 (seven years ago)
after the long break he had I thought maybe he'd return with an LP of piano music like the tracks on DrukqsThis was my hope, as well (love those tracks)I was a massive fan in the day, but haven’t really enjoyed his new stuff
― empire bro-lesque (morrisp), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 22:00 (seven years ago)
I wish he would either evolve rhythmically or, yeah, make more Drukqs-esque electro-acoustic music.

― 16, 35, DCP, Go! (sic), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 23:29 (seven years ago)
Just listened to the new track... it definitely recalls classic Aphex, and has a propulsion that his other recent stuff has lacked (it’s no “Windowlicker,” though?)My son heard it and made me replay the whole thing again while he watched the video, so maybe that’s something...
― empire bro-lesque (morrisp), Tuesday, 7 August 2018 23:32 (seven years ago)
I just want more 4/4 stuff with pretty melodies again.

I mean it's not a wild leap or anything but he is doing new stuff here, the second half of the first section (of the video) is more rhythmically interesting than anything on Syro
― Uhura Mazda (lukas), Wednesday, 8 August 2018 03:14 (seven years ago)
Sounded pretty aphex by numbers to me on the first listen, video was great but I may never watch it again. Notable for the appearance at 1:50 and 4:00 of the Michael Faraday monument at Elephant and Castle, near where he used to live.

― F# A# (∞), Wednesday, 8 August 2018 13:13 (seven years ago)
Thanks, I had forgotten about that already (thought maybe it was part of the dump)
True there is that crazy triplet-based shit, but it has the same busy, skittery effect.
For someone who is supposedly so experimental with gear I wonder if he is intentionally going back to some of his classic sounds here (those pads). Or...I read this interview with Taylor Deupree recently where he says that his friends make fun of him for buying new synths all the time and then making the same sound with each one, I wonder if that's what RDJ does.
