yea this was my first thought as well, the way every single movement in the music is reflected in the video is insane. if I watched this in VR I'd probably have a stroke

on first listen, i kind of agree. it would fit in on any number of his earlier releases, seamlessly. but that's not really a criticism in itself - if anything it kind of speaks to the mindblowing futurism of his 90s music. and if he released selected ambient works vol 3, and it sounded just like 2 (or 1) i would be absolutely thrilled. i think the bigger problem (personally speaking) is i'm not sure what place this kind of frenetic music has in my life anymore, to be honest. it's not you, rdj, it's me.

i still go back to polynomial c - ON - Xtal and the ambient ones more than any of his newer music

Finally got through here as well. I felt a little silly; the regular black vinyl pressing is fine, but...not shiney ;_;

stevie otm so I don't know what to think of this. the majority of latter day aphex really bores me but this track and the video work really well

Track is just OK, boilerplate Aphex, I was hoping that by this point he'd be doing something a bit different, after the long break he had I thought maybe he'd return with an LP of piano music like the tracks on Drukqs, but happy enough to have him around putting stuff out even if he isn't quite at his peak anymore. Cheetah was nice enough.

The video is fucking great though, it's not like it has any completely new ideas, but I've not seen gants graf x cyriak before and it just works, really looks like something that should exist in 2018.

definitely seems to be keeping up with the OPNs and James Ferraros of the world there

tbh I think his new stuff is probably the most technically challenging and complex work he's ever done, it just doesn't really engage me like his previous work does. Syro was definitely one of those albums I thought was pretty rad on release but never really wanted to hear again after the first couple months. Then again drukqs was like that and I love that album now so who knows

it is definitely super technical but also it sounds like yet another refinement of a sound that started as far back as Druqks. At this point i can play a 'typical Aphex tune' in my head - detuned sinewaves, squelchy acidy noises and drilly rhythms bouncing all over the place, and that's sort of what he does now

Just listened to the new track... it definitely recalls classic Aphex, and has a propulsion that his other recent stuff has lacked (it’s no “Windowlicker,” though?)

My son heard it and made me replay the whole thing again while he watched the video, so maybe that’s something...

I just want more 4/4 stuff with pretty melodies again.

Once in college, I was sitting around stoned with my jamband/jazz/J. Tull/etc. loving roommate.... I put on I Care..., and he was totally entranced — “I think about music this way, too”

I mean it's not a wild leap or anything but he is doing new stuff here, the second half of the first section (of the video) is more rhythmically interesting than anything on Syro

Sounded pretty aphex by numbers to me on the first listen, video was great but I may never watch it again. Notable for the appearance at 1:50 and 4:00 of the Michael Faraday monument at Elephant and Castle, near where he used to live.
