despite really liking the band I've never been able to shake the view that they basically come off like a bunch of dads who bought cool equipment with money from their day jobs and somehow made v good grownup dad-indie rock

I lost track of Thrice once they took their proggy turn. I should revisit some of that stuff. I feel more open to that kind of thing than I was when it came out initially.

does that mean you haven't heard vheissu or beggars? bc those are their best. (beggars is kind of a "have our cake and eat it too" recession from prog while the songs get deeper and darker still)

I listened to vheissu and didn't like it at the time but could probably revisit. I was a really big The Artist and The Ambulance guy. A listened to the one after Vheissu and small bits and pieces after that. You very rarely steer me wrong Brad, so I'll give em all another chance.

Beggars was good, Brad posted the best song for suure.
