yeah i'm with shakey here
― 808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:41 (eight years ago)
i like the synth line so much but i didn't vote for it. "coming up" is superior in basically every way
― flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:42 (eight years ago)
too much Paul here
― sleeve, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:42 (eight years ago)
well good thing we seem to be getting him out of the way

great song, last minute deletion from my ballot to fit in more paul songs
― flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:43 (eight years ago)
that song was mtv-huge, right?

Really? I thought Andy Newmark was the only drummer on those 1980 sessions.
― Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:47 (eight years ago)
i think i've heard this song
― 808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:47 (eight years ago)
live and let die is a better song than a bond theme, if you get me
you're right Tarfumes, not sure how Ringo's credit slipped in there. Session credits for some of these things was really hard to keep track of and standardize across ballot entries.
― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:49 (eight years ago)
i can imagine! besides, just to call out the worst example of this, who can say who played what on all things must pass anyway (though you can generally tell it's ringo when he's on it)
― flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:50 (eight years ago)
I think I mistakenly placed his name in there because of this tidbit:The song was originally written for Ringo Starr to include on his 1981 album, Stop and Smell the Roses, but due to Lennon's death, Ringo decided not to record it.
― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:50 (eight years ago)
"Another Day" my #1
― bunny slopes, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:50 (eight years ago)

Ringo sure doesn't remember lol

it's great
― flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:54 (eight years ago)
i voted for it in the lower reaches of my ballot. better than "the girl is mine"!
― 808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:55 (eight years ago)
yeah both mj collabs on pipes of peace are superior to "the girl is mine" which... isn't saying a lot, but

― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:57 (eight years ago)
voted for "say say say" for mj's delivery of "what can i do, girl to get through to you / 'cause i love you! / baby!" alone
― flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:58 (eight years ago)
I do a superb Paul when I karaoke "Say Say Say."
― morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:58 (eight years ago)
heh - I voted for it for the horns, the vocodered "say say say," and Paul's "yooooouuu never, ever worry..."
"gimme some truth": great song, great side opener
Paul's "yooooouuu never, ever worry..."

my favorite paul collab that has no chance of making it is "get it," with carl perkins, from tug of war. perkins has such a great voice, and it sounds weirdly incredible against the '80s production. rediscovering that song kinda made me want to look up if perkins did any worthwhile solo work in the 80s.

I appreciate too how George Martin mimicked a Q joint production.
