flaming pie is a really nice record, feels like what tug of war wanted to be (idk if that makes any sense)

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 00:31 (eight years ago)

what

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 00:47 (eight years ago)

also that wasn't a dig earlier, it is hard for me to tell if the fireman is pedestrian ambient techno or legit good ambient techno, all i know is it was perfect desk job music

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 00:48 (eight years ago)

I like "Fluid"

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 00:51 (eight years ago)

you know, we tend to forget how solid Flaming Pie is, which got the same good reviews the late 2000s album did and is also forgotten.

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 00:54 (eight years ago)

wow "Wah-Wah" is awesome, had totally forgotten about it

sleeve, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 01:04 (eight years ago)

Voted!

If I'd tried to rank every single song, I'd have been fiddling with it for another week, so I ranked the absolute cream, then broke the rest into tiers and ran each tier through a randomizer.

WilliamC, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 02:25 (eight years ago)

Flaming Pie is very good, yeah - although I'd cut maybe 3 tracks from it to shorten it a bit. 'Beautiful Night' and 'Calico Skies' (which also sounds great in its live incarnation with full band) are both all-time McCartney for me.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 06:35 (eight years ago)

shakey, how important would you say it is that ballot artists are labeled correctly? (say I might confuse Plastic Ono Band with John Lennon or Wings with Paul McCartney...)

niels, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 07:08 (eight years ago)

I like "Fluid"

and fluid if you disagree...

Mark G, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 11:13 (eight years ago)

i got really high last night and listened to chaos and creation for the first time. that album is outstanding

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 12:07 (eight years ago)

can I do a mixed ballot?

what do you mean?

― Οὖτις, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 10:05 AM (one week ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

I was wondering this too, mixed meaning part-ranked and part-unranked

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 13:37 (eight years ago)

can i vote for paul’s “black beatles” vine

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 13:46 (eight years ago)

wait do I have to list the artist as well as the track title? if so, what is the correct format?

sleeve, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 14:29 (eight years ago)

Artist - Title

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 14:30 (eight years ago)

wasn't really feeling driving rain and "freedom" is an atrocity but i had to find room for "rise the raindrops" on my ballot

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 14:32 (eight years ago)

er rinse*

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 14:33 (eight years ago)

I've always wanted to like Rinse the Raindrops more than I do... the title line will pop into my head but then I'll put on the full song and it just kinda wears me out.

noel gallaghah's high flying burbbhrbhbbhbburbbb (Doctor Casino), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 14:42 (eight years ago)

I can imagine an enthusiastic Paul protest song called "Raise the Raindrops!"

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 14:44 (eight years ago)

i remember seeing the "lonely road" video on vh1 all the time in 2001/2002

it's really terrible in a specifically 2001/2002 music video way

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 15:01 (eight years ago)

shakey, how important would you say it is that ballot artists are labeled correctly? (say I might confuse Plastic Ono Band with John Lennon or Wings with Paul McCartney...)

I'm standardizing all the poll entries as part of the vote tabulation process, so as long as you give me some kind of clue as to which artist performed the song I can take it from there.

I was wondering this too, mixed meaning part-ranked and part-unranked

I don't know how to count unranked entries without being prejudicial or arbitrary, so everything should be ranked plz

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 15:14 (eight years ago)

I ranked the absolute cream, then broke the rest into tiers and ran each tier through a randomizer.

I did exactly the same thing, got a top 7 and then let Excel do the rest, happy with the result!

nate woolls, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 15:17 (eight years ago)

So I have to disqualify some stuff I listed, since I just noticed a vote for Leon Russell's "A Song For You". I had the whole album that song is from down as featuring George, but it actually looks like he only played on Dixie Lullaby, Shoot Out on the Plantation, and Hurtsome Body. (Ringo only played on Dixie Lullaby and Shoot Out on the Plantation).

Sorry about that

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 15:27 (eight years ago)

awww, dang

WilliamC, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 15:35 (eight years ago)

"spinning on an axis" is a really weird song, kinda feels like wings and ram combined

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 15:38 (eight years ago)

turns out in the end I couldn't not include a few goofy ringo tracks... certainly it's a fool who plays it cool

ballot sent!

niels, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 16:40 (eight years ago)

Driving Rain - think I voted She’s Given Up Talking and From a Lover to a Friend!

timellison, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 17:39 (eight years ago)

those songs are both really good

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 17:42 (eight years ago)

sorry to just reiterate what i said earlier but wow chaos and creation is SO good

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 19:33 (eight years ago)

12 ballots so far, get 'em in people

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 20:34 (eight years ago)

do Shakes a favor
open the door
and get'em in

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 20:39 (eight years ago)

kinda lol but mostly sad that How Do You Sleep is on the same album as Imagine

niels, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 20:41 (eight years ago)

Imagine Paul sleeping peacefully
I wonder if you can

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 20:56 (eight years ago)

I take it we're just voting for songs rather than specific versions, yes? Apologies if this is answered somewhere already.

Alba, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 21:03 (eight years ago)

It depends. I combined all the votes for the different versions of "Isn't It a Pity" into one, for example, since most people didn't specify which version. But in other cases you need to be clear that you're voting for, say, Wings' version of "Live and Let Die" as opposed to Paul McCartney and the Freelance Hellraiser's remix version. Or Bob Dylan's version of "If Not For You" as opposed to George's.

Live versions are not eligible.

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 21:06 (eight years ago)

"only mama knows" is a really strong late macca rocker

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 21:38 (eight years ago)

Good website for instrumental credits: https://www.the-paulmccartney-project.com/

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 30 May 2018 22:02 (eight years ago)

yeah I looked at that a bit

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 30 May 2018 22:03 (eight years ago)

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:35 (eight years ago)

ew

this poll is really putting me in touch with my true, deep hatred of Paul McCartney.

sleeve, Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:41 (eight years ago)

sorry sleeve!

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:43 (eight years ago)

haha it's cool, as usual your love for music I cannot stand is inspiring in a weird "takes all kinds" kinda way

sleeve, Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:43 (eight years ago)

there are a couple of Wings tunes down in the lower 30's of my ballot and that's probably gonna be it.

sleeve, Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:45 (eight years ago)

What do you dislike about McCartney enough to flush whole chunks of his music down the toilet?

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:54 (eight years ago)

wait, no voting for the live "maybe i'm amazed" and "coming up" ? those were substantial hits!

noel gallaghah's high flying burbbhrbhbbhbburbbb (Doctor Casino), Thursday, 31 May 2018 00:58 (eight years ago)

noel gallaghah's high flying burbbhrbhbbhbburbbb (Doctor Casino), Thursday, 31 May 2018 01:03 (eight years ago)

the live "Maybe I'm Amazed" sounds mannered imo
