'Batphone' is pretty much the only track that I find to be not as good as the others. At the moment, anyway. They're maturing really nicely as a band though, and they eventually won me over which is quite something given that 12 years ago I thought they were fucking awful.

i revisited favourite worst nightmare the other day and it's great, those opening two tracks are furious, but it gets kinda loose on the second side!

Alfred needs a cock tail

every time i listen i latch onto a different lyric, bass lick, drum fill

Lyrics are so self effacing and funny it’s easy to love

I like half the album! But I can't get past the mismatch of ambition and prowess. He can't sing these songs, crams too many words, and sounds awful doing so.

after a few listens the words relaxed really nicely into the knotting song structures. i have zero problems with his singing here

The rolling stone issue in which the band was recently featured gave the album 2 stars.

Their first LP in five years is a lounge-rock odyssey set in a casino piano bar on the moon. Frontman Alex Turner lands somewhere between glum-glam Bowie and Dean Martin on tracks like “Star Treatment” where he croons, “I’m a big name in deep space, ask your mates/But golden boy’s in bad shape.”
It’s not without a certain vermouth-zonked charm. But after a while in Turner’s wee small hours, you may want to hop the next shuttle back to Earth.

BBC2 tomorrow night

A new Arctic Monkeys BBC special will air tomorrow (June 8).
The band will be the latest to be the subject of an At The BBC show, following in the footsteps of the likes of Adele, Sam Smith, Harry Styles and U2, amongst others.

Fans had petitioned for the band to be given a live concert special on the network

if you are a fassbinder fan you can't help but see the connection between him and the aesthetic on a lot of these recent shots

i went to Target today and saw this for $8.99 and almost bought it, but i resisted my impulse buy as i don't buy CDs any longer. it seemed like such a good deal but still passed.

it's kinda funny seeing turner use his newer vocal approach for "dancefloor," but he makes it mostly work imo

this album is so addicting. i always look at my new stuff and think what should i play today. this seems to win on most occasions.
