Huh, highest rated Autechre release since Confield I believe. Still think Exai and Elseq were vastly underrated by them.

eh, i wouldn't worry so much about the actual score (which isn't determined by the reviewer). i mean, the subhead says "Though it’s created by a computer, it will bring you to another plane of human existence if you let it." 8.2 oooook

Move of 10 is indeed great. a few tracks you forget you're listening to Autechre.

Listening to this straight through while marking exams today. The ghost choir on xflood seems to be mourning this particular student's poor performance.

I didn't remember e0, which is lovely.

there has been one (1) play of four-of-seven on Benji B's show last week but nothing else from the new releases. and about 8 plays of other things so far this year.)

I finally cranked the volume way up on "Overand" and wow I didn't know there was such a complex rhythm underpinning the whole thing

kinda wonder what else I'm missing by not listening to Autechre at ear-splitting volumes

Oh, I've gone plenty hard. I've listened to little else these past few weeks. I like everything on it. But I made this mix is for those times when I want four hours of Ae instead of eight. It took me a lot of deep listening to arrive at this playlist. And yes I take Ae too seriously.

also I suspect you're trolling the Ae fanboy here but I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt because I know you're probably listening to "all end" as we speak

13 ctrl is my fav right now, this release keeps on giving though

These four alone would have made a pretty amazing single CD album.

Some of these tracks are pretty similar to the 2014/15 live sessions, north spiral is one in particular.

"l3 ctrl" is good but seems like a bit of a retread relative to the rest of this. I was having drill-y flashbacks for the first half of it. Just didn't find it exceptional, I guess, but I plan to listen to it a thousand more times anyway

l3 ctrl just has an frenetic uptempo energy to it I haven't heard from them since the LP5/EP7 days. Makes a really sweet opening track too.

The transitions of the four above are really spot on up until column thirteen. Might need to rethink that. Either way, one of the advantages of pumping out so many fairly high quality tunes is it makes for an intriguing exercise to create some easily digestible cross segments.

Skinny puppy maybe the closest they came. Not one of their greatest, although it's pretty out there.

So elseq 1 is the last release of theirs on spotify, just noticed (while wondering what to spend my gdpr sign up thankyou 20% discount on) that it's the last available on bleep as well. were elseq 2-5 and the nts sessions all self released?

quaristice is super weird isn't it. i like it but it has a lot of outliers for them i think.

'acid mwan idle' is also pretty different for them in a similar way maybe. i don't know wtf is going on with it but i've kind of connected with it.

yeh, acid mwan idle is really distinct from anything else they've done - love it though

i have a hunch violvoic is based on IO from quaristice although i haven't bothered to find the parts that make me think that. anyone noticed any other bits that suggest the NTS tracks could be descendants (or at least relatives) of tracks from other releases?

- "all end" ... the bulk (the surface, at least) of it, is from the outro to "bladelores" (Exai)
- “violvoic” is obviously using a “voice” from Confield’s uviol when you listen to it
- "clustro casual" from nts 3 sounds a lot like "teartear"
- "four of seven" sounds lifted straight out of the Amber era too
- noticed the pads from "Altibzz" creeping in at the end of "debris_funk"

tbf this is like taking a shot at Bach for using the same 'cello sounds in ALL of the 'cello concertos
