Pay No Mind rubbed me the wrong way—one of the chord progressions made me grind my teeth—but the rest of the album is lovely.

Oh wait, wrong song. It was actually Dark Spring. Remove the first track of the album, and the rest of it's a delight.

have never been really into them but this sounds quite nice if not groundbreaking or anything

It’s not their best opener, but I do love the abrupt transition into Pay No Mind.

Not bad. A little wishy-washy but it's dreampop! What makes me suspicious: the tunes seem to unfold/unwrap themselves already after the first listen. I fear diminishing returns. The closer "Last Ride" is pretty vacuous.

Record sounds a lot like the cover

Similar to tender buttons in the sense that a lot of the action seems to come spatially in the left and right whereas the vocals are in the middle. Like on lemon glow - the synths or guitars whatever they are attack on the left and right but the song anchors in the middle.

Dunno really like this record. Sounds like bsides and slow burners

this is the album i've always wanted them to make, easily their best. they've broadened their sound and largely replaced the retro organs and arpeggios with huge walls of synths and distortion. the most stylistic variation on a single album of theirs too, their previous albums could get quite same-y. all the songs are excellent too

I haven't heard a Beach House album since the first three, diving into 7 now.

I've spent a week trying to fall in love with this record, it's just not happening. Apart from Black Car there's nothing I get a thrill of excitement from. And I am a huge fan, devoured and savoured every album rapturously since Devotion.

What I like about this is how the abstraction of their lyrics match music that supports that ambiguity

I think it still feels distinct compared to the dream-pop canon of Slowdive, Cocteau Twins etc. as despite the added distortion this time around they're still much more synth/organ heavy than either of those bands ever were

It's the same ebb and flow for me and Beach House were I will intensely love an album for a short period of time, not care about it for several months, see years, and go back it and love it even more.

Sparks was so good when it came out ; DC didn’t get any better than that

levitation is probably the best dream pop song of all time so it does get a bit better

One of the most straight-up rock songs they've done.

I saw Beach House and My Bloody Valentine at the same venue, within a month of each other, this year. Both were loud, dreamy, and had spectacularly colorful animated projections. With this song, Beach House have more or less turned into MBV. So I want them to form a supergroup now, even though both groups seem sort of insular and might just cancel each other out.
