Wow, the new Deafheaven song is totally brightening my day.

I've never heard a whole Deafheaven song. Might as well start with one that's 11 minutes long, I guess.

I admit I missed out on the Ion album cause I had it confused with the new Portal record.

So the Morbid Angel show at Starland Ballroom was cancelled. They say "scheduling conflict" but that doesn't make sense for a tour that has been booked for months. Was it just lousy ticket sales or does anyone have an idea what might have happened?

Sleep are releasing a new album tomorrow (4/20, lol).

I like the Sleep album, interesting that they didn't go back to the Holy Mountain style. had to stop on the last track which seemed like it was gonna be my favorite. bought a digital copy.

I don't know how it stacks up to their previous stuff, and I'm not exactly big on black thrash but it sounds pretty good to me. Though it helps that I'm hearing it as a sped up, more aggressive Virus AKA good Voivod worship.

Don't forget that the new Dimmu Borgir album's out today - it's really, really good.

Black thrash sounds intriguing to me, and so does this Aura Noir album. Thanks for the heads up.

Blasphemer is such a distinctive guitarist

Wolf's Lair Abyss, Grand Declaration of War, Chimera, Ordo ad Chao: really remarkable run thanks in large part to Blasphemer's 6string magic.

Really like his doom thing, Ava Inferi, too. It's got those characteristic guitar figures all throughout if in slow motion.

Also xpost there's another good black thrash album this year in Transilvania's The Night of Nights. It's on YT.

The Obituary tour - with Pallbearer, Skeletonwitch and Dust Bolt - is pretty great. See it if you get the chance.

The new Pharaoh Overlord album, Zero, has Antti from Demilich on vocals. And Hans Joachim Irmler from Faust. It's not really metal but kind of cosmic krautrock with toad vocals.

If you like broooootal death metal, you will like Facelift Deformation's Dominating the Extermination. I know I do.

lol! Wormed are enough br00tal death for me, no other band of that kind have made mutch of an impression. Not a fan of those album cover aesthetics either.

New Urfaust album is fucking brilliant btw, probably their best.

I do kind of love that the color palette for a lot of BDM albums has become a weird lurid blue/syrup purple
