Yeah, this album's great. I like the confidence it exudes throughout, it's an insular album that doesn't sound withdrawn, if that makes any sense.

Well I guess the record release party is at this Pure Groove place in Clerkenwell on Tuesday. (They keep having great shows there that I can never be arsed to go to for some reason.) It's free, I think I'll go.

three weeks pass...

This came out last week in the U.S. but hasn't gotten much attention yet. The only reviews I've found:

I've been meaning to listen to this for forever. Now that I can't sleep, I've had a good opportunity. I say it is ... burt_stanton approved.

philip glass meets momus and patrick wolf meets PBS aesthetic (I don't know what you fruity Brits have). If that doesn't excite you, then I feel sorry for you.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten more discussion on Everything/Everything going; this is exactly the kind of record I think ILM would dig; kinda like Max Tundra meets XTC meets nu-Sufjan, it's really good guys

you know it's amazing this guy had a critically acclaimed breakout pop album 11 years ago and then never did anything remotely like it again

Yeah, seriously. I keep hoping he'll put out something else along those lines, but it sure doesn't seem like he has any interest in doing that. New album next year is supposedly going to be a spoken-word/chamber thing.
