I will rep for Sigur Rós.

The band that I like a lot that has some outright hate posts directed at them is the Ocean Blue.

he doesn't need to be racist about it though. (Austin), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:16 (eight years ago)

Cake are pretty universally derided here, right? I really like Fashion Nugget a lot, but I don't need anything else by them.

I started a Cake thread in 2011. Don't really listen to them much anymore, but they were the most important band in the world to me when I was a teenager.

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:18 (eight years ago)

I tend to a very lonely thread on the Dutch band Nits, whom I love unreservedly.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:20 (eight years ago)

xp, that's great, frogbs! I will join your fan club.

No energy, only great chaos (Dan Peterson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:22 (eight years ago)

i dig some of that late 90s global underground bullshit like danny tenaglia's two mixes

jeez i owned about half a dozen GU mixes. and like three sasha & digweeds. and a solo digweed. And TRANCEPORT by OAKENFOLD.

haha i had a lot of those too

marcos, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:28 (eight years ago)

Ryan Power. The great unheralded prog-pop genius of our time, and I don't think I've seen him mentioned here once.

J. Sam, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:29 (eight years ago)

a lot of my answers would be Japanese stuff that never crossed over

but one artist I really do like that no one here really cares about is Datarock

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:29 (eight years ago)

The entire Kerri Chandler thread is about 80 percent single-post revives by me.

"Minneapolis" (barf) (Eric H.), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:30 (eight years ago)

Just had a quick spin through 'Slap!' - yeah, lots of it has not aged well at all. This one track though still sounds great, as long as you skip over the bits where they are singing / talking

are there any other Hue and Cry fans on ilm?

soref, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:32 (eight years ago)

i have never stopped playing the first two Doves albums since they came out and sometimes i wonder if anyone still plays them at all. i mean people might have liked them when they came out but they feel kinda forgotten. i never get tired of them.

scott seward, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:35 (eight years ago)

Some Cities is a fantastic record, scott. I will rep pretty hard for that one.

he doesn't need to be racist about it though. (Austin), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:40 (eight years ago)

i never got into that one as much. i've never even heard their fourth album. those first two though...

I liked Kingdom of Rust okay. It had some really great highlights.

he doesn't need to be racist about it though. (Austin), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:44 (eight years ago)

I'm the same, Scott, still rate those first two Doves albums highly and pretty much fell off with the third which I found quite bland. Recently, I listened to the fourth album to see if I'd missed anything and hadn't really. I like the production on those first two LP's a lot.

Le Baton Rose (Turrican), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:49 (eight years ago)

Revolution by Chumbawamba is an absolute classic anarcho-punk single but I'm not a big fan of their later stuff. I still have a soft spot for the Anarchy album but that's probably because I was 17 when it came out.

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:52 (eight years ago)

The Tea Party
Florence And The Machine
..James? I love James but don’t remember ever speaking of them here

nevertheless, he stopped (flamboyant goon tie included), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:56 (eight years ago)

idk there's like one florence thread but it's not empty

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 20:57 (eight years ago)

Also I adore Solex and I’m sure at least there are five of us

But I’m the same vein: Kevin Blechdom?

Hit us up on the Deep Cuts thread my dude.

MaresNest, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:01 (eight years ago)

Mew are a competitor for my favourite extant rock band but I don't think more than three or four people care about them here.

No purposes. Sounds. (Sund4r), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:03 (eight years ago)

the high llamas

lots of duds in the c/d thread

lots of hate in various stereo lab threads

mostly indifference

afriendlypioneer, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:30 (eight years ago)

for the record I fucking love Chumbawamba all the way up to the Un album and sporadically after that

sleeve, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:33 (eight years ago)

Kenrick Lamar, Fleetwood Mac's Tusk, New Order. all great music that ILM hates for some reason.

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:48 (eight years ago)

meanwhile some of you have a real hard-on for ELP's Love Beach

frogbs, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 21:56 (eight years ago)

High Llamas are great.

Orbital Ribbonbopper, Inventor of Flying and Popcorn (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 22:08 (eight years ago)

I like(d) that one Thievery Corp album, but ILM shamed me out of listening to them any further.

underoath

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:03 (eight years ago)

i say that bc i'm about to mention them in another thread

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:04 (eight years ago)

I listen to a lot of High Llamas

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:28 (eight years ago)

I can't stand High Llama or any Stereolab from Dots and Loops onward, mostly I guess because I love the Neu! rip-off stuff so much

nevertheless, he stopped (flamboyant goon tie included), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:32 (eight years ago)

a lot of the 50's era seems, I don't know, taken for granted?
There are 4-5 threads on the Everly Brothers, but rarely are these top page.
maybe there isn't much new to say, but I'm still blown away every time I listen to them or Little Richard or Buddy Holly etc

campreverb, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:41 (eight years ago)

High Llamas seemed pretentious to me. There's a word ILM hates

thots and players (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:44 (eight years ago)

Give me American Analog Set for 'lab ripoffs. Or were they ripping off Galaxy 500

thots and players (rip van wanko), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:46 (eight years ago)

Co-sign on doves and early cardigans

Eris (Ross), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:50 (eight years ago)

Omg I love American Analog Set. I was tempted to say Vetiver...I have a thing for good but not necessarily important bands (see also: Guadalcanal Diary, Mobius Band, Mendoza Line)

campreverb, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:51 (eight years ago)

i love early cardigans (and tbh all phases of cardigans)

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Wednesday, 4 April 2018 23:53 (eight years ago)

I'm not sure if most ppl (including/especially myself) really have an adequate vocabulary for talking about '50s music, without it turning into just a recitation of facts, historical notes, etc. There's something sui generis about that era which makes it distinct from most of the rest of rock/pop/etc. I could be totally wrong.

absorbed carol channing's powers & psyche (morrisp), Thursday, 5 April 2018 00:10 (eight years ago)

Like - I love Bo Diddley, but I'm not I've ever tried to talk/write about his music, or would know what to say. I'm sure there are others who are much better at it than me.

absorbed carol channing's powers & psyche (morrisp), Thursday, 5 April 2018 00:12 (eight years ago)

(As in – ppl who are actually good at talking about music. LOL.)
