i saw the Borbetomagus documentary at Spectacle, a Brooklyn theater with 30 seats, so that's def a clean hit.

I like High Horse as a single but the sound of it is too sweet and upbeat to work with those “fuck you” lyrics imho.

honestly one of the most memorably and gloriously hellish live shows i've ever seen

"High Horse" is a miss for me -- the chorus melody feels forced, in particular.

Chorus melody rules, casual eye rolls are a great way to be disdainful, whole point is her cheerful mood remains undisturbed

the lyrics are weird -- the song is thisclose to being a dog whistle (because "high horse" is usually associated with moralizing) but decides it wants to be "That Don't Impress Me Much" at the last minute

xp I'm not saying High Horse isn't a good song, I just feel like the lyrics are a wasted opportunity, spending all that chorus energy dismissing some vague and indistinct character when it could have been about Kacey/me/us

I like this a lot. Thought her debut was overrated so I didn't even bother with Pageant Material but clearly I need to go back and reassess.

"Butterflies" always puts Genesis's "That's All" in my head.

there's a cluster of three tracks that are just amazing

happy & sad is potentially a great track as well, which would make that four great tracks back to back, but it might be a grower

i'm a sucker for piano tracks so rainbow is a very nice outro

also what's the problem with smoking weed? she seems/sounds chill and would be cool to hang with

best track has to be love is a wild thing, though -- those keys after the music stops (at 2:56) reminds me a lot of future islands for some reason

stylistically it is a lot more varied than her previous albums i want to say, as well

this is cool, but not quite as good as Little Big Town's comparable stuff

I feel like she didn't write these songs for her own voice... she keeps reaching for high notes that don't seem to suit her range.
