Oh no that sucks! "Acceptable in the 80s" was pretty good but "The Girls" had the girls going wild! That song is hot.
I never checked the full album to be honest but I can't believe he would keep his entire new one on just one laptop. Way to suck, British Airways!
― Rob Threezy, Thursday, 3 April 2008 18:34 (sixteen years ago) link
This is totally a dog-ate-my-homework story, and is Harris's excuse for not yet having churned out the follow up Columbia is no doubt pestering him for so they can rush release it before everyone gets (even more) sick of him.
― JimD, Thursday, 3 April 2008 18:50 (sixteen years ago) link
yeah as much as i would like this to be true, what kind of mongtard doesn't back that shit up?
― blueski, Friday, 4 April 2008 13:52 (sixteen years ago) link
He should just steal Laromlab's album and pass it off as his own.

Has Dom been moonlighting as a baggage handler at Terminal 5?
― Tom D., Friday, 4 April 2008 13:59 (sixteen years ago) link
of course he has another copy. its just a load of PR gumph aint it.
― mark e, Friday, 4 April 2008 14:00 (sixteen years ago) link
Was about to say the same. If it was really the case they'd be suitably embarrassed to not issue a fucking press release about it
― DJ Mencap, Friday, 4 April 2008 14:04 (sixteen years ago) link
Perhaps he did a song with Naomi Campbell and she wasn't too keen on it.
― Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 4 April 2008 14:24 (sixteen years ago) link
Maybe the record label is trying to get extra compensation from british airways
― Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 4 April 2008 14:31 (sixteen years ago) link
That would be hilarious so I hope you're right
― DJ Mencap, Friday, 4 April 2008 14:42 (sixteen years ago) link
Anyone tech-savvy enough to make good electronic music knows to back shit up. What a jackoff.
― Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 4 April 2008 14:45 (sixteen years ago) link
yep, he is like some vile British public school James Murphy
― Noodle Vague, Friday, 4 April 2008 15:41 (sixteen years ago) link
Well, this song with Dizzee Rascal feat. Calvin Harris, it's quite good.
― zeus, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 10:32 (fifteen years ago) link
it's awful. the way the bassline so wants to be a classic bounce, and fails by so much, makes me cringe.
― lex pretend, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 10:38 (fifteen years ago) link
the lex is back??? wow.
― zeus, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 10:40 (fifteen years ago) link
that deadmau5 dub injects some life into his 'merrymaking' track which is one of those songs that has been completely overshadowed by the remix.
― jbill, Sunday, 29 June 2008 03:07 (fifteen years ago) link
Hey, that Dizzee track is quite good. Calvin Harris revival starts here.
― Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 20:51 (fifteen years ago) link
im happy that i dont live in the uk and therefore can pretend like the dizzee track doesn't exist
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 July 2008 20:54 (fifteen years ago) link
the dude on the hook is the worst part about it actually
I'm seeing this guy open for MBV in three months. Hm.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 20:56 (fifteen years ago) link
Dizzee or Calvin? I'm not sure either are obvious MBV opening acts

I disagree. Dizzee's vocal is phoned in, he switches between generic "electro" and generic "Indian" music in a way that just sounds lazily tacked-together, his own vocal is a cringe-worthy... it sucks, basically.
― Bodrick III, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 21:07 (fifteen years ago) link
Calvin. Dizzee I've seen already, great show.

― Bodrick III, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 21:12 (fifteen years ago) link
i like his production for seb/roisin's "off & on" much more than i like "dance wiv me"
― Keaney Tong, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 22:01 (fifteen years ago) link
I just noticed Dizzee confessing that he'll "feel like a wally" if he doesn't pursue this girl - how can you hate that?

thought this said Calvin Johnson at first, thought "well, i agree, but it's too late now, isn't it?"
― some dude, Thursday, 10 July 2008 13:38 (fifteen years ago) link
I still like "Dance Wiv Me".
― zeus, Thursday, 10 July 2008 15:59 (fifteen years ago) link
dont mind this song anymore but the hook lets it down a lot.
― titchyschneiderMk2, Thursday, 10 July 2008 16:39 (fifteen years ago) link
ned YOU ARE FUCKING KIDDING ME - this guy is opening up for MBV in LA??!?!?!
a fucking travesty.
― BATTAGS, Friday, 11 July 2008 04:01 (fifteen years ago) link
The album's success led to him working with the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Kylie Minogue, for whom he wrote the forthcoming single In My Arms in his bedroom on a 15-year-old computer.
does this blurb annoy anyone else as much as it annoys me?

i think this bears repeating:
"They have offered about £750 in compensation," said the spokeswoman.
"You can't really put a price on something like a new record."
Er, around £750 then? Also, hahaha that's fuck-all.
― CharlieNo4, Friday, 11 July 2008 12:14 (fifteen years ago) link
Dope zinging from British Airways officials, there.
― Noodle Vague, Friday, 11 July 2008 12:17 (fifteen years ago) link
i think it's kinda funny how calvin harris is all "give me praise! how come people aren't talking about my involvement in the new dizzee single!" and it's like, well, cos no one likes you and we'd rather forget that you wrote some okay beats for once. plus dizzee's been reeling from his mercury music prize for so long, it's nice to see the fella doing well with one of his less-good singles. whatever, i'm just bitter cos apparently i look like calvin harris.
― horses, Friday, 11 July 2008 12:43 (fifteen years ago) link
But he gets all the girls, he gets all the girls! Yeah Calvin is pretty shocking but he's not as shocking as plenty of other artists. I say he should stop making music progressively and then quit altogether.
― VeronaInTheClub, Friday, 11 July 2008 15:03 (fifteen years ago) link
i went to a gig of his at the astoria earlier this year. it was SHOCKINGLY terrible.
(and i felt about 63 years old, which admittedly didn't help)
― CharlieNo4, Friday, 11 July 2008 15:09 (fifteen years ago) link
Why is this Dizzee's first number one rather than the BUGSY MALONE ONE?
People have taste in their arse.

^^Hahaha
But peoples; "There won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time (OH I WONDER WHY THE FUCK THERE WOULDN'T BE SNOW ON A CONTINENT THATS GOES THROUGH THE EQUATOR) Do they know its Christmas time at all?" Sorry that line always fucks me up. I change my mind, Harris must quit but also Geldof should suffer somehow.
― VeronaInTheClub, Friday, 11 July 2008 15:39 (fifteen years ago) link
Don't get me started on the lyrics of Feed the World, it's disgustingly glib and misleading. And how about all that snow on the top of all the mountains in Africa?
― chap, Friday, 11 July 2008 15:52 (fifteen years ago) link
