should Eric and I get bored enough to get married, Miguel's "Adorn," FGTH's "Power of Love," or Tom Cochrane's "Life is a Highway" will score our dance.

voted PLASTI-CAGE

Jeff W, Thursday, 22 March 2018 10:52 (eight years ago)

Holy shit such a list. Def not be the best song here imo, but Beat Box seemed momentous.

Hunt3r, Thursday, 22 March 2018 12:08 (eight years ago)

Song-wise, Poison Arrow I think.

Hunt3r, Thursday, 22 March 2018 12:10 (eight years ago)

Mabuse!

We’ve totally had this thread before if not the poll. Voted Grace Jones.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 22 March 2018 12:20 (eight years ago)

Mabuse. Has everything that makes the other ones good rolled into one.

dorsalstop, Thursday, 22 March 2018 13:15 (eight years ago)

Getting all Yessed out on this one.

Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Thursday, 22 March 2018 13:25 (eight years ago)

"Shane MacGowan - You're The One" WTF was this?

akm, Thursday, 22 March 2018 13:50 (eight years ago)

oh that "Popes" album, I forgot that existed.

akm, Thursday, 22 March 2018 13:51 (eight years ago)

Is there a single record from the 80s as epic-sounding as 'Two Tribes'?

Matt DC, Thursday, 22 March 2018 13:56 (eight years ago)

i think "Slave to the Rhythm" is probably my fave of these but there are a lot of bangers in amongst the stuff that i never need to hear ever again

Cambridge Metallica (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 22 March 2018 14:20 (eight years ago)

No-one shouted out "Beat Box" yet?

wait so all these were on an actual retail compilation together? I'm surprised it was possible to line up the rights for something like that. Get 'Leave it' on there and it'd me p much perfect.

Poison Arrow

kornrulez6969, Thursday, 22 March 2018 16:10 (eight years ago)

very boring cover art.
but brilliant compilation.
still figuring out my choice.
could be any of two tribes, mabuse, poison arrow, moments in love, owner of lonely heart, buffalo girls, or slave to rhythm ..

mark e, Thursday, 22 March 2018 16:26 (eight years ago)

and you may find time will blind you

reggie (qualmsley), Friday, 23 March 2018 00:43 (eight years ago)

Wow, I love a ton of this stuff but will always vote for "Video Killed The Radio Star".

will work for cultural capital (contenderizer), Friday, 23 March 2018 00:48 (eight years ago)

I feel like I should go for one of the ABC singles, as The Lexicon Of Love is my favourite album ever, but there's so many masterpieces to choose from. Both the Buggles songs are incredible songs with some of the best production I've ever heard (their two albums are so good), the Frankie singles are still as thrilling as ever and Left To Own Devices is my second favourite song by my favourite band. Then there's Moments In Love, Mirror Mirror, All The Things She Said and Slave To The Rhythm which are all 10/10 singles. Really tough call.

kitchen person, Friday, 23 March 2018 01:16 (eight years ago)

“Look of Love” but close run with the PSB options for me.

should have been a ranked poll

kelp, clam and carrion (sic), Wednesday, 13 June 2018 04:16 (seven years ago)

Not my absolute favourite here (and Beatbox & Mabuse are all time) but I think STTR (Blooded) for the production. Cry is pretty incredible too IIRC.

Absolute Unit Delta Plus (Noel Emits), Wednesday, 13 June 2018 20:28 (seven years ago)

Went with 'It's Alright.'

I need to dig out all my old Pet Shops Boys records. Haven't given those a good listen in several years.

+1 for Cry

Shit i need to listen to like 3/4 of these songs _right now_

Hunt3r, Thursday, 14 June 2018 00:51 (seven years ago)

Can’t remember what I voted for, but would be content with almost everything which got a vote winning.

Dan Worsley, Thursday, 14 June 2018 06:23 (seven years ago)

OTM, with Crazy being my main exception. Everything on 0 votes was fairly overlooked.

kelp, clam and carrion (sic), Thursday, 14 June 2018 16:40 (seven years ago)

I mean I love YES but no way OOALH is one of his best productions. And the Dollar singles are masterful ( "Videotheque" being my fave).

An Uphill Battle For Legumes (Capitaine Jay Vee), Thursday, 14 June 2018 18:12 (seven years ago)

I mean I love YES but no way OOALH is one of his best productions.

especially when you see how many votes Two Tribes (Hibakusha Mix) got which is probably one of the best 12" singles ever.

mark e, Thursday, 14 June 2018 18:20 (seven years ago)

Hibakusha was kind of elusive at the time (3,000 copies?) so had an aura but really it's not better than Annihilation (or even Carnage) despite the fun Linn / Fairlight freakout bit.

Absolute Unit Delta Plus (Noel Emits), Thursday, 14 June 2018 18:50 (seven years ago)

point taken.
I do prefer the Annihilation mix as well tbh.

mark e, Thursday, 14 June 2018 19:07 (seven years ago)

the fact is, both are ZTT at their height brilliance ..

mark e, Thursday, 14 June 2018 19:10 (seven years ago)

Missed this obv. Would have been between "The Look Of Love", "Give Me Back My Heart" and "Video Killed The Radio Star". All absolutely ace. But probably the latter after all.
