The fact that the new Earthless album includes vocals on several tracks makes me sad, but this nine-minute monster jam makes me feel much better:

I'm enjoying the hell out of the debut album by Flesh Hoarder, Homicidal Necrophile, which comes out May 11. Broooootal slam metal, total knuckle-walker shit. Here's a "lyric video" for "Counterweight Suicide":

They've also put up a strong candidate for Song Title of the Year with "Ejaculating on the Faces of the Aborted."

Hi metal people, as someone who listened to a lot of metal in the '90s (some experimental, lots of Century Media-type stuff, some corny [and even I knew that Theli was corny at the time]), I enjoyed that Therion piece, thx for that.

The new Gorevent EP is really good too, if adorned with unspectacular art. Looking forward to the new Cranial Contamination, Injurious, and Godsfarm.
On a completely different tip, specifically Finnish black metal that's less raw and punky and more table-pounding pagan triumphalism, there's this amazing album from like a year and a half ago that I'm only now discovering. Brilliant stuff with (underused) cool key sounds.https://antimateria4.bandcamp.com/releases

I'm seeing Lisa LeBlanc tonight. She is a Canadian "thrash folk" artist whose Twitter account says, "I like banjos and headbanging."
Here she is doing "Ace of Spades"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvXlMdfspwg
The video is a montage of several different clips of her doing it. When I watched it, I swore that I saw Voivod at one of them. Sure enough, they jammed on the tune at a Canadian festival before (a handheld clip of it is also on the YouTubes).
Her last album was great, incidentally: http://open.spotify.com/album/0oTTQnhihdD5IDQeW2xoVL
I'm passing up Exodus and Municipal Waste to see her. I have a feeling I won't regret the decision one bit.
