it's definitely my favourite thing they've done. sarah's extremely twee vocals work a lot better in the context of this lo-fi rock, they were often a bit much before

I'm annoyed that their show here sold out in seemingly hours - and then sold out just as quickly again when they got a venue upgrade

it's basically a full length TOTEP in sound which is exactly what i wanted

this is a v nice album, although i maybe slightly preferred TOTEP, pound-for-pound. that's nitpicking though. this really is lovely

fantastic album. almost wish they hadn't split the material into two releases but that's a nitpick.

I listened to Intro Bonito a while back and thought it was terrible. But lots of people seem to like this band who also like things I like. Is that unrepresentative or do I just have bad taste in music?

Their style has changed a lot since then. I like both old and new KKB, but basically the new LP seems to have gotten the PC music sceptics on-board as it has moved away from that sound. So if that sounds like you then maybe give it a go?

this album barely resembles Intro Bonito (which i agree is pretty bad). Bonito Generation was definitely a step up though still a bit underwritten but it's this year that they've really come into their own

It's not just musically they've developed. Sarah has turned into an amazing lyricist seemingly overnight.

I mean you can be pretty free with it, almost every track is so self-contained and ends with a sudden whoosh of noise

Saw them last night in Brighton. A very charming gig with most of the audience singing along. Would like to see them again in a year if they keep gigging to see a tighter performance.

Saw these guys in Atlanta last night and it was the most fun I've had at a show in years. The crowd was super hyped and you could tell the band were really feeding off their energy. I thought they did a great job of re-working the old songs in the live band format. Go see them if you have the chance.

I had slept on Time 'n Place until this week but wow, what a fantastic record. It's very melancholy--I'm hearing a valiant struggle to stay positive in the face of existential boredom and/or tragedy. There are also so many gorgeous melodies and textures throughout, like in the bridge to Time Today, which might be my favorite bit of music from last year.

Does anyone else get Trish Keenan vibes from Sarah's vocals? To me, they both share a kind of wistful British stoicism, though both bands obviously come from different places aesthetically.

This does sound like video game music, in a way I can't appreciate or enjoy. And why are their tunes so aimless now, when they used to be all about catchy melodies (to the point that they had a song about how great they are)?

This band is clearly going places artistically, but they left me behind a while back. Oh well

I love everything about this band. Their recent carefully constructed "mythical" vibe reminds me of the KLF in the best possible way.

I’ve decided this is the best song of the year 2021.

I just watched this recent “live” show of theirs, and discovered they did a great KKB-do-2-step remix of Metronomy last year. Unfortunately it’s not another 7 minute journey clocking in at 3 mins only.

Civilisation vinyl (both EPs on one mini LP) finally landed, so getting fully immersed in these songs now. Bits of the record remind me a bit of Going For The One or Tormato-era Yes, there’s that same density of sound and willingness to embrace the cosmic. The rate KKB are evolving and improving is quite startling.

The sleeve art is something else too. Black symbols on a white background with text in a strange font that vaguely resembles hieroglyphics - which carries across to the lyrics on the inner sleeve too (thus rendering them largely incomprehensible even after you’ve worked out which letter of the alphabet each symbol stands for).

Not sure what the competition is, but "21/04/20" has to be the greatest song written about COVID quarantine
