I have no idea if people actually listen to this band. Was this album a hit? A flop? Have they toured behind it? Just festivals? Clearly they are still releasing singles.

And yet, pretty sure they never hit Chicago! I mean, they might have been at Riot Fest? But I was shocked they never played a standalone show here, if that was it.

Seems like it was a flop in the Melodrama sense, where maybe it underperformed a bit commercially but it was also enormously well-received and probably cemented their fanbase for many, many years to come.

Saw their winter show (sold out, I think) and the good will for the band was just through the roof.

yeah i was less worried about their health as a band after seeing them on this tour (at a sold out radio city). i think after "still into you" and "ain't it fun" were big pop hits that really leaning hard into that direction made sense... but given how hard it is for any rock band to get consistent traction in pop i'm also not surprised it didn't catch. will be interesting to see where they go next having given this route their best effort.

apropos of nothing "Forgiveness" reminds me of The Orb's "Star 6 7 8 9" or whatever it was called

I actually like this found on mistake on late a TV show when I woke up in the middle of the morning and when I turned on my TV this came on. I liked it!!
What l was she speaking in? I do not follow or believe in Stephen Colbert's Politics, but loved this act.

oh also i finally saw them on this tour (at boston calling) and it was wonderful. we got kind of an abbreviated festival setlist; unexpectedly, they cut "misery business," and they played "idle worship"/"no friend." i was ecstatic

it was very good

I have a place in my heart for misery business, but would be fine with it if they rotated it out of their sets.

Saw them at Bonnaroo last weekend, they were great. Also did the Idle Worship/No Friend extended jam. And in the middle, Hayley gave this nice little talk, partly prompted by Anthony Bourdain.
