there's been a kind of sameyness to the poll this year imo (obvs this only bothers me because it's not my kind of sameyness; if 5 dancehall tracks had placed I'd be psyched), but it is p cool that all three "afro"pop songs are from three different countries and in different languages

lotta lurkers have drifted away imo

'Akanamali' didn't strike me at first but by the end I was completely on board. Very good choice, ILM.

the video for this is charming

the second half of that song is probably my favorite kendrick moment of all time. the aggressive/aggressively repetitive sample always reminds me a bit of chicago footwerk stylez

Great to see Akanamali place so high. Didn't vote for it as I only came across it in the noms thread and didn't really allow time for it to sink in, but it's great that such an outlier can place so high
