Thank you for showing me Closer. Loving this so much
― gman59, Thursday, 25 January 2018 01:38 (eight years ago)
I'm liking Closer too; can't escape the irony that the chorus of the track they've set to play first is "All I want is something familiar" bc yeah this sounds familiar! In a good way!

i had no idea that the dangerous summer reunited and recorded a new album? so far it's great, but their albums tend to start off great and drift into whatever

actually the album is pretty good the whole way through!

my favorite screamo song of the year is the last minute or so this all-screaming version of the Lady Bird trailer

I do wish the TMP album were a touch more ambitious overall a la "Warm Hand Splash" but it is certainly v solid
― Simon H., Monday, 5 February 2018 22:08 (eight years ago)
based on my many listens to "Charisma" I have decided that PBtT's David Haik is the most overperforming drummer in emo (in a good way)
― Simon H., Monday, 5 February 2018 22:41 (eight years ago)
great track when is the album actually dropping

new Brian Fallon is out today, he's (unsurprisingly) gone even more retro and not really connected to anything even emo-adjacent at this point but it's not bad!
new Dashboard is out too for those so inclined. There's also an OK new Wonder Years single - album's out in April.

Everything in this thread is absolutely beautiful. Have been loving the Tiny Moving Parts, Closer, Jeff Rosenstock, Runaway Brother (who I'd never heard of before, so thank you Evan R), Senses Fail...all of it!
This is a really richly produced sort of emogaze by 'Snape', who don't seem to have released much else before this. The whole thing sounds great, but try track 5 for something instantly loveable.https://snapeau.bandcamp.com/
― Launch of new ILM school business management programmes! (tangenttangent), Sunday, 11 February 2018 22:43 (eight years ago)
Emo is sometimes a hard sell for me but pretty much every Snape track has me saying things like 'whoa, this is great!' or 'this sounds like Adam & Eve-era Catherine Wheel!' so yeah
― imago, Sunday, 11 February 2018 22:45 (eight years ago)
Holy shit, the closing track!!!

The intro to this track reminds me of SY's "Brave Men Run" then later I hear GYBE! and The Promise Ring lol. This track is kinda spacey/indie but they are more properly emobarrassing on the LP 'Magnolia' which I keep coming back to

That Culture Abuse is weird. I don't know anything about them but it sounds like a bunch of hardcore dudes gave up hardcore to make a weezer record but forgot to change their bandname. That all sounds like a dis, but it's good dumb fun.

sounds like the drug church record lol, gonna check it out
― jolene club remix (BradNelson), Thursday, 6 December 2018 15:54 (seven years ago)
it's so not hardcore/punk in the way the the drug church record is. The "hardcore dudes" I'm imagining is mostly just something about his demeanor/delivery, def not the music. Like there's just a vibe I get that reminds me of like H20's softer moments, or like Weston or something.
